International Shipping Giant Invests in PostNet Franchise, Becomes Master Franchisee in South Africa

Aramex, a Leading Global Provider of Logistics and Comprehensive Transportation Solutions, Has Become PostNet's Newest International Master Franchisee

DENVER, CO and JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA - (Marketwired - Apr 7, 2015) - In a move that underscores PostNet's rich international reputation among major global companies, Aramex, a leading provider of logistics and comprehensive transportation solutions, has acquired the master franchise for the PostNet brand in South Africa.

The $16.5 million deal will make Aramex services, which include international and domestic express shipping and its e-commerce business "Shop and Ship," available across all PostNet locations in South Africa.

With 287 centers serving more than 55,000 customers daily, the PostNet franchise is South Africa's largest privately owned counter network in the printing and shipping industry. Under terms of the deal, each South African PostNet center will continue to be owned and operated by their respective franchisees.
"Aramex's significant acquisition is a testament to the superior digital printing, marketing and logistics services PostNet provides businesses around the world," said PostNet co-founder Steve Greenbaum. "In the past two decades, PostNet has grown into one of South Africa's most trusted and respected brands. We are proud of that reputation and of the growth we have achieved on the international front."

International business has been a driver of PostNet's growth. PostNet is in 10 countries and continues to seek partners to bring the brand to more countries. Its partnerships with international logistics companies and its expertise at the retail level allow PostNet to meet consumer needs anywhere.

"Internationally I see a tremendous amount of opportunity. We already have over 400 additional locations internationally and have some great international partners," added co-founder and PostNet CAO Brian Spindel. "Longer term there is no reason we couldn't have well over 1,000 units internationally."
The acquisition of PostNet South Africa also provides opportunities for Aramex to continue regional expansion, taking advantage of increasing demand for logistics, delivery and business solutions.

"We are excited to further expand our global network through the acquisition of PostNet's master franchise," said Aramex CEO Hussein Hachem. "As we continue to scale Aramex into new growth markets and bridge trade corridors, this acquisition will expand Aramex's volume of business in Africa considerably."
Founded in 1993, the PostNet franchise now has more than 700 locations worldwide. Entrepreneur magazine has named it a top franchise opportunity for 22 consecutive years, and PostNet has earned consistent praise from Franchise Business Review thanks to its high scores for franchisee satisfaction.
