Franchise Freeway Inks China Master Franchise Deal For Client FroZenYo

Agreement Will Bring Dozens Of New FroZenYo Locations To Mainland China, Hong Kong And Macau

June 10, 2015 // Franchising.com // FAIRFAX, Va. – Franchise development company Franchise Freeway has announced that it has structured a master franchise agreement between its client, FroZenYo Delicious Self-Serve Frozen Yogurt, and First United Investment Development LLC, a Beijing-based multi-concept franchise developer. Jianyi Wang, the CEO of First United, successfully introduced Edible Arrangements - the leaders in fresh fruit bouquets - to China in 2011 (www.aidibao.cc) and has subsequently opened about 20 Edible locations since, with over a dozen more coming soon. The agreement between FroZenYo and Jianyi calls for many FroZenYo locations to be developed in Mainland China, as well and Hong Kong and Macau over the next two decades. “We are very excited to broaden our portfolio of U.S. brands with the addition of FroZenYo,” said Jianyi. “The quality of the FroZenYo product coupled with FroZenYo’s willingness to collaborate with us on the design and product mix as we enter the China market made FroZenYo an easy decision for us.”

Mike Halpern, CEO of Franchise Freeway, believes FroZenYo will be very successful in China under the leadership of Wang and his partners - who have already demonstrated the ability to take a U.S. brand and replicate it in China. “Jianyi has lived in both China and the U.S. and understands the cultural differences between the two,” said Halpern. “FroZenYo will work diligently with Jianyi to maintain the integrity of the FroZenYo concept while making the necessary adjustments to assimilate it into Chinese culture.”

The FroZenYo concept was created by a management team that brings decades of restaurant and retail experience to the table and is based on a self-serve, a la carte format. Chuck Rendelman, President of FroZenYo, believes that international development of the FroZenYo concept is a key focus of growth. “We structured our first overseas agreement in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 2013, and they have opened four FroZenYo locations within the first two years,” said Rendelman. “We quickly realized that the competitive landscape overseas for our category is nascent and affords rapid growth for our international franchise partners who have access to capital and real estate.”
