Golden Krust Launches First Annual National Jamaican Patty Day

Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery & Grill (GK), the nation's largest Caribbean franchise chain,will launch the first Annual National Jamaican Patty Day with celebrations nationwide. 

BRONX, NY - July 29, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ - On Saturday, August 1st, 2015 Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery & Grill (GK), the nation's largest Caribbean franchise chain,will launch the first Annual National Jamaican Patty Day. Celebrations will take place nationwide, with Golden Krust locations selling 99cent beef patties from 11:00am to 3:00pm, while supplies last. All Golden Krust locations will be decorated with the Festive Golden Krust National Jamaican Patty Day material.

National Jamaican Patty Day will be celebrated every year on the first Saturday in August. The month of August is significant to Golden Krust for a myriad of reasons. Jamaica celebrates both Emancipation and Independence holiday's in the month of August. Further, Golden Krust first opened its doors for business in August of 1989. Additionally, Mavis Hawthorne, the matriarch of the Hawthorne family, was born in the month of August.

Golden Krust will kick-off the inaugural celebration with a Pre-Launch at the Brooklyn Borough Hall on Friday, July 31st, 2015. Dignitaries and politicians will join the Golden Krust Family as the story of Golden Krust and the launching of National Jamaican Patty Day are shared. Light refreshments will also be served. The grand celebration will take place at the flagship store at 1381 E Gunhill Rd, Bronx, NY on Saturday, August 1st, 2015 from 11:00am to 3:00pm. The public is invited to attend this free fun family celebration. Featured will be free samples of cocktail patties and jerk chicken, giveaways, live entertainment, face painting for the kids, a photo booth, celebrity appearances and much more! Topping off the fun and excitement will be the first Annual Golden Krust Patty Eating Contest.

As a part of the celebration, people can enter The Power of the Patty Sweepstakes for a chance to win free patties for a year and a round trip ticket to Jamaica! Participants can enter via social media; entry details can be found by searching the #GKNJPD hashtag on Facebook or Instagram.
