Zaniac Debuts Fashion Design Program for Young, Aspiring Style Icons

After-School STEM Enrichment Franchise Teaches Real Garment Techniques through Digital Design of Custom Clothing

SALT LAKE CITY - July 29, 2015 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - At Zaniac, fashionistas don’t just follow the trends, they master the skills to create them. Zaniac is a national STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) enrichment franchise for students in grades K-8, where learning feels like play. Zaniac has launched its newest STEM course, Fashion Design, which will be offered at campuses nationwide starting August 10, 2015.

In Fashion Design, fourth through eighth grade students will create their own one-of-a-kind looks using the open-source vector graphics software Inkscape. This tool will help budding designers assemble digital mood boards, draw custom garments using vectors, arrange nodes and layer color palettes. Upon completion of the program, students will be able to share their very own fashion collection with their friends and family.

“Our Fashion Design program allows kids to explore digital modeling concepts, truly helping them grasp the skills required for digital design in the fashion industry,” said Zaniac President and Chief Academic Officer Sidharth Oberoi. “We believe that pairing technology and individual creativity ignites students’ interest in education because they are doing something they love while learning necessary 21st Century skills.”

Zaniac currently has two campuses open in Salt Lake City and Park City, Utah, in addition to franchises in Miami, Florida, and Greenwich, Connecticut. The fast-growing franchise will open additional campuses in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York later this year.

The new Fashion Design program is a 90-minute class that meets once a week for six weeks, and the five-to-one student to instructor ratio ensures a personalized, peer-based educational experience.

In addition to Fashion Design, Zaniac offers a multitude of other STEM learning programs that get kids excited to learn math and science while preparing them for 21st Century jobs, including Zaniac Robotics: LEGO®, Game-Based Learning: Minecraft™, App Creation, 3D Printing and Computer Programming.
