JDog Junk Removal Strengthens Leadership Team, Expands Franchise to California

Nation’s Only U.S. Military Veteran Brand Gains New VP of Operations, Enters West Coast for the First Time

BERWYN, Pa. - August 07, 2015 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - JDog Junk Removal & Hauling, a rapidly growing company dedicated to increasing post-military career opportunities for veterans, is developing its executive team with a former Marine, as well as expanding into the West Coast market with its first location in California set to open early this fall.

The company has named former U.S. Marine Corps Officer James “Skipper” O’Flaherty as its new Vice President of Operations, bringing experience from six years of service with the Marine Corps. As Vice President of Operations, O’Flaherty will be tasked with establishing relationships with existing franchisees and ensuring that he provides them with the knowledge and tools to run a successful business.

“I see myself as the most direct link in helping franchisees feel cared about. As veterans, we really have each other’s backs,” said O’Flaherty. “I fell in love with the whole idea of JDog – veteran owned and operated – and its mission to provide opportunities to the veteran community, so I am genuinely thrilled to join the leadership team.”

Franchisee Russell Schermerhorn will lead the expansion to the West Coast, opening his business this fall in Sacramento. A Bay Area native, Schermerhorn served five and a half years in the Marine Corps and served as a deputy sheriff in California for nine years.

“I am excited to carry JDog’s momentum of growth to the West Coast, and to be a part of a company that gives veterans the opportunity to work together to make an impact in our community,” said Schermerhorn. “JDog offers a chance to provide the Sacramento area with a valuable service that is built upon a strong set of military values.”

JDog sells franchises exclusively to military veterans and their family members. Franchise owners operate easily recognizable, camouflage vehicles and trailers and wear military-style uniforms. JDog recycles and repurposes a substantial amount of the collected material. The Philadelphia-based company works closely with local and national organizations like Goodwill and Habitat for Humanity, as well as local schools, churches and hospitals to donate useful items to those in need.

“The JDog team is supported by an experienced board of advisors, including decorated military officers and business professionals, who understand the unique attributes and qualifications of veterans,” said Jerry Flanagan, founder of JDog. “Every operations member of the JDog team has served our country, and now we’re banding together to serve their local communities.”
