The second truck in their fleet, owner/operators Jareth and Deborah Navarre made the addition ahead of schedule due to customer demand for delicious and refreshing shaved ice and ice cream treats and exciting fundraising events.
“Jareth and Deborah are wonderful members of the Tikiz team and, with the extended reach their new truck will provide, I’m confident the Gulf Coast territory will continue to enjoy rapid growth,” said Brian Tollefson, founder of Tikiz Shaved Ice & Ice Cream. “Even before they began operations of their first truck back in January, they had a vision of expanding, and now, we’re excited that their customer demand has allowed for that goal to become a reality.”
The husband and wife team of Tikiz Gulf Coast started their mobile franchise business at the beginning of 2015 after transitioning out of the local automotive industry. As part owner of a family-owned car dealership for 24 years, Jareth began looking for another business ownership opportunity that would allow Deborah and him the ability to give back to their community. Wanting to own a mobile business, the couple soon determined frozen treats as the best industry for them and began looking at their options in 2014. After seeing the Tikiz truck and tasting the shaved ice and ice cream offerings, they began the process of becoming the first Tikiz owner/operators in Louisiana. In the seven months since their first event, Tikiz Gulf Coast has helped donate more than $8,000 to local charities through the brand’s FUNdraiser program that gives 20 percent of an event’s earnings back to the charity involved.
“Our business grew at a rapid rate and with just one truck, the customer demand for our presence and fundraising was just too great for us to wait a year to add a second vehicle,” said Jareth Navarre. “With our new truck, we’re hoping to more than double our to-date donation totals before expanding again, with three more trucks planned. When people see the Tikiz truck and then taste the product, they know we’re here to deliver more than just shaved ice and ice cream – we’re here to deliver happiness.”
Like all Tikiz franchises, the second Gulf Coast truck was built from the ground up with numerous custom components to provide a truly one-of-a-kind experience. Based off brand new, heavy-duty, yet fuel efficient Ford truck platforms, all Tikiz trucks share the same, highly visible Hawaiian beach-themed wrap with real, custom surfboard signage, multiple water misters at each end, 20” chrome wheels and custom lighting with strobes, neon colors and steel drum music. The patented “Surv-Board™” dispenser allows customers to create their own fruit syrup creations, while a high-output ice shaver works from high output batteries to provide owners efficient, yet powerful operation.
