Jersey Mike's Subs Opens First Location With Mohegan Holdings

Meriden, Conn. Is First of 12 Restaurants for the Tribe in New England

September 01, 2015 // Franchising.com // Meriden, CT- Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled subs, opened in Meriden on August 26. The owners, Mohegan Restaurant (JM Subs), LLC, a business diversification entity of Mohegan Holding Company, LLC, of the Mohegan Tribe, held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, August 26 to Sunday, August 30 to support Beat the Streets and Special Olympics Connecticut. This location is the first of 12 Jersey Mike’s Subs restaurants for the Mohegan Tribe including an upcoming location at Mohegan Sun.

The new restaurant, located in Townline Square at 533 South Broad St., circulated thousands of flyers throughout the community with various offers. For each offer redeemed, Jersey Mike’s will make a $1 donation that will be shared by Beat the Streets and Special Olympics Connecticut.

“The opening of Jersey Mike’s in Meriden is the first significant step in what will be a long and happy partnership for the Mohegan Tribe,” said Kevin Brown “Red Eagle,” Chairman of the Mohegan Tribal Council. “Our entry into the Hartford-New Haven area extends the reach of our Mohegan Holdings companies, and we are especially glad to partner with Jersey Mike’s as they share in our ‘good neighbor’ philosophy with their fundraising efforts.”

In February 2015, Jersey Mike’s awarded 10 restaurants in New England to Mohegan Restaurant and in April 2015 the company awarded two additional locations. The awarded territory covers areas in Connecticut, Rhode Island and the southern section of Worcester County in Massachusetts. The Tribe established Mohegan Holding Company, LLC, for business diversification in non-gaming areas, and now includes interests in franchise restaurants, sustainable energy resources and manufacturing, and office digital solutions.
