Home Instead Senior Care Foundation Joins the National #GivingTuesday Movement

Encouraging The Gift of Hope for Seniors this Holiday Season

OMAHA, NE (PRWEB) November 19, 2015 - The Home Instead Senior Care Foundation® has joined the #GivingTuesday movement for a national day of giving to be celebrated on December 1, 2015. The Foundation hopes its participation in #GivingTuesday will encourage charitable giving in support of seniors. A 2012 study by the Foundation Center revealed that in the United States less than 2% of private philanthropic dollars are specifically focused on the needs of the elderly. The lack of charitable support for seniors coupled with a growing senior population will put added strain on community-based social service programs that aim to enhance the quality of life for seniors most in need of support.

The Home Instead Senior Care Foundation aims to help communities adapt to their growing senior population. To date, the Foundation has invested nearly $2 million to support nonprofit organizations throughout North America – and it wants to do more! Home Instead, Inc., the franchisor of the Home Instead Senior Care® franchise network, is proud to fund the operating expenses of the Foundation so that 100% of every donation the Foundation receives can be invested in programs and services that create hope for seniors!

“#GivingTuesday is a catalyst to inspire charitable giving for the benefit of the seniors who enrich our communities and our lives. Our leadership in the in-home care industry and longstanding tradition of giving back compel us to take the lead on this issue. We invite our franchise network of owners, other local businesses, and those who are grateful for the services of their local Home Instead Senior Care office to join us on December 1 by making an online donation to the Home Instead Senior Care Foundation and supporting its efforts to enhance the lives of aging adults and those who care for them,” says Roger Baumgart, Executive Director of the Home Instead Senior Care Foundation and CEO Emeritus of Home Instead, Inc.

Home Instead Senior Care Foundation has secured a matching gift challenge as part of its #GivingTuesday initiative. Generous sponsors have offered a collective match of $50,000 for all online donations made on December 1, 2015. Click here to see a list of the matching sponsors to help seniors on Giving Tuesday.

In addition, Home Instead Senior Care Foundation has partnered with Deliver Media of Tampa, FL to be highlighted as its first gift-of-the-day sponsor.

The Home Instead Senior Care Foundation has a total #GivingTuesday goal of $100,000.00 that includes the matching dollars and a $50,000 goal for online donations on December 1. To that end, the Foundation is encouraging early participation through credit card pledges that will process on December 1 and qualify for the match.

Those interested in offering a credit card pledge today may contact Jenny Strako, Foundation Operations Director, at jenny.strako(at)HomeInsteadFoundation.org to lock-in their participation early.

On December 1, donors can make a donation to the Home Instead Senior Care Foundation by visiting its website.

About The Home Instead Senior Care Foundation

The Home Instead Senior Care Foundation began in 2003 with the mission to enhance the lives of aging adults and those who care for them. To date, the Foundation has invested nearly $2 million in nonprofit organizations throughout North America. Less than 2% of funding from the nation’s largest grant makers is specifically focused on seniors (Foundation Center, 2012 survey). This shortage of funding coupled with the growing senior population creates a tremendous opportunity to encourage charitable giving to nonprofit programs and services that benefit seniors. Nonprofit organizations at the grassroots level offer aging adults resources, programs and services for a greater quality of life. Home Instead Senior Care Foundation is not legally affiliated with Home Instead, Inc. or any of the independently owned and operated Home Instead Senior Care franchise businesses. Visit the Foundation website to learn.

About #GivingTuesday

A worldwide effort to harness the collective power of a unique blend of partners – charities, families, businesses and individuals – to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season. Coinciding with the Thanksgiving Holiday and the kickoff of the holiday shopping season, #GivingTuesday will inspire people to take collaborative action to improve their local communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they support and help create a better world. Taking place on December 1, 2015 - the Tuesday after Thanksgiving - #GivingTuesday will harness the power of social media to create a national movement around the holidays dedicated to giving, similar to how Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are, today, synonymous with holiday shopping. #GivingTuesday launched in 2012 and has grown to a worldwide movement that encourages charitable giving.
