Entrepreneurs Go "Nutty" for STEM-Based Interactive Edutainment Franchise Opportunity

Nutty Scientists Expands in U.S. Markets, Projects Record Growth in 2016

December 11, 2015 // Franchising.com // TUCSON, Ariz. – The number of STEM jobs in the U.S. has grown three times as fast as opportunities in non-STEM-related fields over the past decade, which is causing American companies to voice concern about skilled applicants in respective fields. To supplement traditional education and introduce students to science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics at a younger age, Nutty Scientists is responding to this increasing demand by expanding its franchise footprint in the U.S.

Nutty Scientists, with its parent company Fun Science, is the leading edutainment franchise in the world designed to engage K-6 students in hands-on activities and generate interest in the sciences. Franchise owners and instructors deliver award-winning curriculum at locations throughout their communities including camps, birthday parties, after school and in-class workshops designed to teach children about science in a fun and collaborative way. With 14 locations currently in North America, Nutty Scientists has introduced its interactive programs to new U.S. markets this year including Fort Bend, Texas, Lafayette, Louisiana, and Naples, Florida.

To continue expansion throughout the country, Nutty Scientists is currently seeking qualified franchise candidates who want to make a difference in the way children perceive and learn science. Development in 2016 is projected to bring new franchise locations to new communities in California, along the East Coast and across the country.

"We have made great strides this year in our U.S. expansion. Along with entering three new markets, we have invested time into developing new partnerships that will benefit our franchise system and introduced new programs for children with localized lessons and activities," said Shery Christopher, Partner and Sr. Vice President Nutty Scientists USA, Inc. "One of our proudest accomplishments from the past year is the introduction of the Nutty Scientists Lab prototype, which allows franchise owners to have a space of their own to host activities seven days a week."

The first official Nutty Scientists Lab prototype opened in October in Lafayette, Louisiana. Averaging 1,500 to 2,500 square-feet, Nutty Scientists Labs are host to after school programs, interactive shows and special events led by instructors trained to orchestrate detailed experiments in a playful, yet structured atmosphere. A physical location is not required for a franchise territory as Nutty Scientists prides itself on maintaining flexible models that can be adapted to the needs of each region it serves.

Originally founded by Santiago Martin in Madrid, Nutty Scientists has served more than 9 million children in 40 countries and will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2016. Its proprietary programs have been expertly developed with input from scientists, teachers and educational authors from around the world providing a global scientific perspective.

"Along with partnerships that will benefit our franchise partners, we have joined the USA National Science Teacher’s Association to ensure the curriculum is aligned with the Next Generation of Science Standards," said Santiago Martin, Founder of Fun Science & Nutty Scientists and CFO of Nutty Scientists USA "As we expand our presence in the United States, we will continue our mission to get kids excited about science and leverage the scientific process as a hands-on way to learn and discover."

Qualified franchise candidates do not need a background in science, but will hold a passion for working with children and a desire to make a difference in the community. Franchisees and their staff implement fun, hands-on, spectacular interactive activities in the form of shows or workshops related to science, which incorporate aspects of technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM). The franchise provides proven systems and comprehensive support, including marketing and operational support and ongoing training opportunities.
