Smoke’s Poutinerie Leaps into Spring with Cabbage Patch Poutine

Weird, Wild and Wacky Culture Comes to Life with a Trip to the Cabbage Patch

May 05, 2016 // Franchising.com // AJAX, Ontario – Smoke’s Poutinerie, the “World’s Largest and Original Poutinerie,” is taking its loyal fans on a time travel expedition to spring 1985 when Cabbage Patch Kids reined supreme and nearly everyone sported an embarrassing haircut. Inspired by the golden age of neon legwarmers and Atari, Smoke’s Poutinerie is unveiling its Cabbage Patch Poutine, featuring Tabasco® Green Pepper Sauce, this April.

A tender subject for the gastronomical genius and creator of Smoke’s Poutinerie, Smoke grew up watching his friends play with Cabbage Patch dolls, Rubik’s Cubes and Atari games. Highly self-aware of his jagged bowl cut, Smoke avoided playing outside with his friends, opting to stay in the kitchen perfecting his poutine creations. Flash forward a couple decades, and Smoke’s dedication in the kitchen is paying off. The Cabbage Patch Poutine is the picture of spring rejuvenation and innovation.

The Cabbage Patch Poutine starts with traditional poutine (fresh, hand-cut fries, cheese curd and Smoke’s signature, piping-hot gravy) and is topped with mouthwatering corned beef and Tabasco® Green Pepper Sauce seasoned coleslaw. The funky fresh dish is available from April 4 to May 23 at all four-wall locations.

“Spring is a time of phenomenal renewal – it’s the perfect moment to unveil our Cabbage Patch Poutine with the masses… and our fans to set their mullets free,” said Ryan Smolkin, founder and CEO (Chief Entertainment Officer) at Smoke’s Poutinerie. “The insanely addictive flavors of crunchy cabbage, Tabasco® Green Pepper Sauce and mouthwatering corned beef create an undeniably delicious poutine. Smoke has gone completely over-the-top this time.”

In conjunction with the Cabbage Patch Poutine, Smoke’s Poutinerie is hosting a contest on Twitter where fans are encouraged to share their wild hairstyle throwback photos for a chance to win 1980’s prize packs. Guests can enter photos via Twitter using hashtag #CabbagePatchFlow for a chance to win and photos will be judged by Smoke himself.

“Smoke is harnessing the power from all of our fans with the Cabbage Patch Flow contest,” added Smolkin. “Whether you dread looking back at your 1980’s hairdo or wish the glory days were back again, nothing beats a good laugh accompanied by some delicious poutine.”

Smoke’s Poutinerie sources top-of-the-line ingredients, including potatoes that are hand-selected from farms in Idaho and cheese curds from producers in Wisconsin. The brand’s traditional menu includes 30 varieties of poutine, from Chili Cheesesteak Poutine with flat iron steak, homemade chili and cheese sauce, to the Double Pork Poutine with chipotle pulled pork and double-smoked bacon, as well as multiple vegetarian options.
