Jamba Juice to Award $10,250 in Gardening Grants to Local Phoenix Schools

Phoenix Jamba Juice® locations to offer free smoothies for students, teachers and administrators on August 19, in celebration of partnership with KidsGardening.org.

PHOENIX - August 08, 2016 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - To kick off back-to-school, Jamba Juice announced today that stores in the Phoenix market will be awarding 20 gardening grants to local schools both public and private serving grades PreK to 12. The leading health and wellness brand will award 19 grants in the amount of $500, and one grand-prize at $750.

In addition, each store in the Phoenix area participating in the Garden Grants will be hosting a Free Smoothie Giveaway for all students, teachers and administrators (ID required) on August 19th from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The free smoothies day is designed provide nutritious options that inspire kids to make healthy choices and lead a healthy and active lifestyle.

Jamba Juice is awarding the grants through its partnership with KidsGardening.org, a leading nonprofit resource for garden-based education. Recipients of the grants are encouraged to promote nutrition education, incorporate fruit and vegetable related activities into the curriculum and sustain their gardens for years to come. Schools that wish to apply for the grants are required to reside in Phoenix and the greater Phoenix metro area, and the deadline to submit applications is Thursday, August 25th. Phoenix Area Jamba franchisees Panos Joulios, Scott Timmons and Prudence Swann have teamed up with KidsGardening.org to encourage students to be good stewards of the environment. Recipients are encouraged to put their winnings towards seeds, planter boxes, tools and information on gardening and healthy living. The official winners of the grants will be announced on September 2nd and will be presented to the winning schools on October 7th.

Jamba & KidsGardening.org have been partners since 2009 and by the close of 2016, Jamba Juice will have provided nearly 250 grants totaling $130,000 for schools and youth gardens.
