Round Table Pizza Raises Funds for Make-A-Wish®

September 30, 2016 // Franchising.com // Concord, CA - Round Table Family Charities (RTFC) would like to announce that it will grant a donation this year to Make-A-Wish® for $255,000 which will result in more than 30 sponsored wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.  RTFC will have donated more than $685,000 since 2013 to Make-A-Wish, resulting in countless positive memories in the lives of these special kids and their families.

Each year RTFC raises money to benefit Make-A-Wish through in-store fundraisers, a charity golf tournament and an auction.  Round Table Pizza crew members dedicate an entire month to sell paper Make-A-Wish Stars to guests, friends and family and then proudly display those Stars in Round Table restaurants in hope of creating awareness for the many children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Most recently, it was a magical time at Round Table when we helped fulfill the wish of Anjelica, a 14-year-old who is battling an autoimmune disease.  She fulfilled her wish to go to Hawaii with her family.  This wish was celebrated at the Round Table in Visalia, California where Ben, the restaurant manager, and his team served pizza and decorated the party room in a Hawaiian theme.

“Hosting a wish party at our restaurant was such a moving experience for the entire team.  We were able to hear first-hand how the wish trip helped bring so much happiness to the wish child and her family in the midst of a very dark time,” says Ben.  “For some of our employees it was the first time they have been involved with a charity, and it inspired my team to be even more involved in the fundraiser.”

Employees across the Round Table Pizza system took this cause to heart, and even restaurants in small towns are netting big results, raising more than $100 per day per restaurant.

“In our effort to support Make-A-Wish, Team Fairfield/Sacramento held our first annual Roll for Wishes Bunco Night,” says Jennifer, Area Manager. “It was an evening filled with family and friends who came to the Round Table Pizza in Cordelia and enjoyed a buffet dinner, some fun with bunco, raffle prizes, and a bake sale.

“I’m incredibly grateful to our Round Table community for coming together to support such an important cause,” says Rob McCourt, CEO of Round Table Pizza and Round Table Family Charities Board member.  “Each year, I’m inspired by the dedicated employees who strive to find new opportunities to raise funds for Make-A-Wish.  Many of our employees know someone who has been a wish recipient, and that personal experience gives them a greater understanding of the impact these wishes have on the children and their families.”

About Make-A-Wish

Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. According to a 2011 U.S. study of wish impact, most health professionals surveyed believe a wish-come-true has positive impacts on the health of children. Kids say wishes give them renewed strength to fight their illness, and their parents say these experiences help strengthen the entire family. Headquartered in Phoenix, Make-A-Wish is one of the world's leading children's charities, serving children in every community in the United States and its territories. With the help of generous donors and more than 28,000 volunteers, Make-A-Wish grants a wish somewhere in the country every 35 minutes.
