Youngsters Head To London For Photo Shoot With The Pros

November 29, 2016 // Franchising.com // Having hair and makeup done ready for a photo shoot in one of the most prestigious performing arts publications in the UK is a dream come true for any aspiring performer. When that performer is a child, the excitement is even more apparent.

On November 22nd, five children who attend part-time theatre school Razzamataz were invited to travel to London to attend a photo shoot for The Stage, a weekly newspaper for the performing arts and entertainment industry.

The photo shoot was part of the prize for the youngsters who entered a national competition in association with The Stage to win a year’s scholarship to attend their local Razzamataz.

To enter the scholarship competition, the children were asked to film a short demo of no more than two minutes long showing them performing either a musical theatre song and dance, street dance, pop song, drama improvisation or scripted drama piece. The demo did not have to be professionally filmed. Candidates also completed a short application form detailing why they wanted to take this opportunity.

MD and Founder of Razzamataz Denise Hutton-Gosney explains: “It has been a privilege to work with The Stage for the last six years and during this time we have offered thousands of pounds worth of training for children to attend performing arts classes at their local Razzamataz schools.”

During the photo shoot the children were styled by top professional makeup artists and hairdressers and worked with photographers to achieve fantastic images that has given them a taste of what life for performers could be like.

The children travelled from all over the UK with students coming from the Razzamataz schools in Paisley, Dumfries, Sheffield, Medway and Carlisle.

“Having the chance to work with top photographers and make up artists is really inspiring for our students,” adds Denise. “Winning this scholarship has really spearheaded the careers of many of our students and I am incredibly proud that many past winners are now training to work as professionals in some of the most respected performing arts colleges in the UK.”

The scholarships have been created to give more children the opportunity to participate in the performing arts and are part of Razzamataz’s dedication to make performance training accessible to young people all over the country.

The scholarships are available to current students and those that do not attend the part-time theatre school. The judges are looking for potential, so even if the children have never had any professional training before, there is a chance that they will be chosen if they have raw talent.

“Winning the scholarship with The Stage does not only mean that the student has free training for a year, it opens many other doors such as being chosen to attend this photo shoot or being invited to The Stage New Year’s party where they get the chance to mingle with stars from the West End.”

Razzamataz will be offering further scholarships in 2017. Children are asked to contact their local school’s Principal or to look online at www.razzamataztheatreschools.co.uk for more information.

If you would like to find out how you can join the franchise network, Razzamataz is actively looking to open further schools across the UK and in particular Aberdeen and Cardiff. The team will be holding regular Discovery Den days, which give people the opportunity to meet the Head Office team and find out more about this franchise opportunity.
