FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Dec. 29, 2016 // PRNewswire // - Orangetheory® Fitness, the scientifically backed and fast-growing fitness franchise, today announced the opening of the first corporate-owned studio in New York City. The studio is located at 51 Astor Place in the Astor Place neighborhood, the vibrant community where East and West Villages meet in Manhattan. The Astor Place Orangetheory Fitness studio is just blocks from the historic Public Theater. The studio opened today with classes beginning at 5 p.m., and is the fifth Orangetheory Fitness studio to open in the New York City market.

"We're elated to be opening our first corporately owned Orangetheory Fitness studio in New York City, one of the workout capitals of the world," said Dave Long, co-founder and chief executive officer of Orangetheory Fitness. "This studio is located in the heart of the city and will allow us to continue to grow our Orangetheory Nation while providing us with an ideal spot to continuously deliver the most unique, challenging and results oriented workouts to New Yorkers."

The Astor Place Orangetheory Fitness studio will feature a large, multi-level layout, making it unique from any other Orangetheory studio in the world. Orangetheory Fitness studios are designed to motivate with upbeat music, state-of-the-art equipment, contemporary lighting and art. Studios are spacious and clean, with separate men's and women's locker rooms and showers. Certified coaches inspire participants to beat plateaus and stick to their goals. The dynamic created by working out in a group setting has proven benefits – support, energy, endurance and accountability.

Orangetheory Fitness launched its first studio in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. in March 2010, and has transformed into one of the world's top fitness franchises, with more than 550 studios in 45 states and seven countries, including U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, Mexico, Dominican Republic and Columbia. The 60-minute, five zone heart-rate-monitored interval training concept has helped tens of thousands of members lose weight, get toned and meet their overall fitness goals in a short amount of time. The fitness franchise is on track to have 700 open studios in 2017.

About Orangtheory Fitness

Orangetheory® Fitness (www.orangetheoryfitness.com) is a scientifically designed, one-of-a-kind, group personal training workout broken into intervals of cardiovascular and strength training. Backed by the science of excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC), Orangetheory's heart-rate-monitored workouts are designed to get participants within the target-training zone of 84 percent to 91 percent of their heart rate, which stimulates metabolism and increases energy. Led by highly skilled coaches, each Orangetheory Fitness workout incorporates endurance, strength and power elements through a variety of equipment including treadmills, rowing machines, TRX® suspension training and free weights. The end result is more energy, visible toning and the 'Orange Effect' – where participants keep burning calories for up to 36 hours post-workout (the Orangetheory Fitness 'afterburn') for an average of 500+ total calories burned per every 60-minute workout. The company was ranked #60 in Inc. magazine's Fastest Growing Private Companies List and #225 in Entrepreneur's 2016 Franchise 500® list of the top franchises in the world.
