Former Air Force Commander Flies to Top of Tutor Doctor Executive Team

Growing Private Tutoring Franchise Names Robert Rosedale to VP of Operations

BOISE, Idaho - January 18, 2017 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - As the newly appointed Vice President of Operations for Tutor Doctor, retired U.S. Air Force Colonel Robert Rosedale is laser-focused on a primary mission: Equip the world’s leading private one-on-one tutoring franchise with the processes and tools to operate efficiently well into the future. In turn, Tutor Doctor franchisees of today – and tomorrow – can run flourishing businesses that provide students with skills they need to achieve success.

For Rosedale, who opened Tutor Doctor’s first franchise in Idaho after retiring from his 27-year military career, transitioning from successful franchisee to a post at the franchisor’s corporate office was a natural progression.

As a Flying Training Squadron Commander in the Air Force, Rosedale transformed young officers into pilots who were ready for worldwide missions. As a franchisee, he applied those same training concepts to build confidence and discipline among students. His latest post allows him to combine all of his skillsets and to share learnings and create best practices that the entire Tutor Doctor franchise system can benefit from.

“Being process oriented, having a strong sense of self-discipline, taking calculated risks…these are all skills business owners rely on,” Rosedale said. “Teaching young students the importance of hard work, self-confidence and resilience to overcome challenges were integral parts of running of my franchise, and I’m carrying those same principles into my role as VP of Operations at the home office.”

Early on as a franchisee, Rosedale recognized that many students struggle in school not so much due to lack of knowledge, rather they don’t have the academic discipline to organize projects, manage their time, prioritize tasks or think long-term. He designed new program called “X-Skills” to help students build these organizational and “executive” skills to help them in school and beyond. The home office of Tutor Doctor took notice and eventually rolled it out system-wide. That experience gave Rosedale a taste of how he could have an impact on a national scale and further expand his reach within the tutoring sector.

“Bob’s extensive experience in the military and as a franchisee gives him tremendous street credibility with our franchise owners,” said Tutor Doctor President Frank Milner. “He has already proven to be an incredible asset to Tutor Doctor. He will be instrumental in shaping the company’s core set of processes as we continue to grow domestically and in global markets.”

One of Rosedale’s immediate goals is to introduce technology and streamline the company’s current processes to help franchisees operate with a proactive mindset. His franchise in Boise, which will now be managed by corporate Tutor Doctor to allow him to focus on his new role, will serve as a flagship operation to pilot new programs before rolling them out system-wide.

“As Tutor Doctor continues a pattern of consistent expansion domestically and around the world, it’s imperative to refine processes and systems that can sustain growth. Working with Frank and the rest of the executive team, we have a very specific vision and we will execute on it.”
