Existing HFC franchisees can nominate veteran candidates and help raise funds to ensure the winner’s success.
March 16, 2017 // Franchising.com // ORANGE, Calif. - Home Franchise Concepts (HFC) is continuing its legacy of helping veterans transition into civilian life with a new initiative that promises to award one of its three category-leading retail franchises to a deserving former member of the U.S. or Canadian military on U.S. Veteran’s Day and Canadian Remembrance Day.
Starting this week, existing HFC franchisees are encouraged to nominate deserving veterans for HFC’s There’s No Place Like Home Veteran Partnership and Giveaway to be considered to receive a Budget Blinds®, Tailored Living® or Concrete Craft® franchise territory including two weeks of business-development training and up to an additional $100,000 in operating capital.
The initiative follows years of HFC support for veteran programs including Homes for Our Troops, Wounded Warriors Canada, Military Makeover, NBC’s George to the Rescue and the HFC Million Dollar Franchise Event which awarded $1 million in franchise discounts to former servicemen and women.
Thanks to this and ongoing veterans discount programs, HFC has introduced hundreds of veterans to business ownership to the point that veterans represent a sizeable percentage of the company’s more than 1,300 franchise territories in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
“At HFC and our family of brands, veterans are near and dear to our hearts,” said HFC CEO Shirin Behzadi. “We know that many veterans experience significant challenges as they transition back into civilian life including finding employment and a sense of purpose beyond a 9-to-5 job. According to Behzadi, a unique component of the program is the role of existing Budget Blinds, Tailored Living and Concrete Craft franchisees who not only nominate veteran candidates for consideration but also help raise the first-year operating funds that will maximize the winner’s chances for long-term success.
“Budget Blinds, Tailored Living and Concrete Craft franchisees are encouraged to develop their own fundraising programs with their customers to help us reach the goal of $50,000 which we will match to provide the winner with up to $100,000 in working capital to purchase equipment, advertise and grow their new business. We want to make sure our newest franchisee is set-up for success.”

HFC’s There’s No Place Like Home Veteran Partnership and Giveaway is open to all former members of the U.S. Amy, Navy, Marines, Air Force or Canadian Armed Forces who received an honorable discharge. Candidates must be referred by an active HFC franchise owner, who will be asked to briefly explain why the veteran is suited to own a Budget Blinds, Tailored Living or Concrete Craft franchise.
While HFC will cover the initial franchise and territory fees, the veteran that is selected to receive the franchise will be expected to pay royalty, NAF and co-op advertising and media fees once they take ownership of their business.
