Hundreds Of Children Audition For ‘One Dream’ A Brand-New Singing Competition With £2k Cash Prize

August 31, 2017 // Franchising.com // On Wednesday 30 August, hundreds of children from across the UK attended the first round of auditions for their chance to win the large sum of money.

The auditions took place at Europe’s largest Tesco store, Brookfields in Hertfordshire.

The judging panel included the founder of Make Believe, Joel Kern, along with senior talent agent Eilidh McCole and industry professional Emma Murphy.

Make Believe is one of the UK’s most successful and exciting Performing Arts companies and now they have teamed up with Tesco’s to find new raw talent. The children through to the final 30 include both Make Believe students and non-Make Believe students.

One of the lucky children through to the next round is 12 year old Rosie Donohoe, who attends the Sevenoaks Make Believe branch.

Rosie said: “I feel absolutely amazing knowing I’m in the last 30 auditionees! I’m proud of myself knowing I did my best and gave it my all. To prepare for the final I’m going to work extremely hard, seeking help from my teachers at Make Believe Sevenoaks to pick the right song that shows off my voice and I hope I make everyone and myself proud!”

The winners of each category will perform at London’s iconic venue The Stratford Circus Theatre (where the head office is also now based) on 7 October 2017 in front of a huge audience and an industry professional judging panel, where they could win the cash prizes.

About Make Believe

Founded by Joel Kern in 2004 Make Believe have 50 schools in and around London, Australia and most recently Manchester, teaching youngsters the basic skills in the performing arts. Kern, who started Make Believe aged 15 by teaching five students to sing, dance and act, has seen the company grow into one of the most exciting performing arts companies with around 3500 children enjoying the after-school classes on a weekly basis. And with a raft of talent coming out of the Make Believe Talent Agency (including youngsters landing roles in West end Musicals, TV shows and adverts) the future is looking very bright for the Ilford-based producer who won the Federation of Small Business Young Entrepreneur of the year for South East England award.

Joel said: “The event was amazing! The talent was outstanding and the support from all over the community was fantastic. Well done to the hundreds of young people who took part and thank you to our sponsors; M & S and Tesco for helping us make this all happen!”
