Newest Scooter’s Coffee Location in Overland Park to Celebrate Grand Opening

New Store to Donate 100% of Proceeds on November 17 to The Victory Project

October 31, 2017 // Franchising.com // Kansas City, KS - Scooter’s Coffee, the Midwest-based coffee franchise that has experienced tremendous growth over the past year, has increased its Kansas presence with the company’s latest opening at 7621 Shawnee Mission Parkway in Overland Park. The new location is celebrating with a Day of Giving for The Victory Project, an initiative from Sporting Kansas City that unites players, staff and fans to help children battling cancer. On the Day of Giving, November 17, 100% of proceeds will be donated to The Victory Project.

This donation day is the third event in a season-long collaboration in which Scooter’s Coffee will not only raise money for The Victory Project but also help raise awareness for the program.

“Providing support and resources to families during a time when they have a child facing a cancer battle is our goal,” said Brandi Thomas, Executive Director of The Victory Project. “With the support of a dedicated partner like Scooter’s Coffee, we have the amazing opportunity to increase awareness and funding to further our mission and make it a reality. These families deserve all we are able to give them, and we are so thankful that the great people at Scooter’s Coffee have committed to helping us deepen our impact.”

Thus far in the partnership, Scooter’s Coffee has raised over $10,000 for The Victory Project on its #CoffeeKicksCancer days where 20% of proceeds from all area Kansas City locations are donated to the foundation.

“The opportunity to partner with a quality foundation like The Victory Project just made sense for myself and the brand. We see this as a great way to reach out to those in our community who are battling the difficult circumstance of childhood cancer. We want them to know that we care and we are supporting them during a difficult time in their life,” stated Tracy Bouwens, one of the owners of Freedom Enterprises, which owns many Scooter’s Coffee Kansas City locations. “Most of us have been touched or affected by the struggles and heartache of cancer, whether it's personally, a family member or a close friend. My mother-in-law passed away at the age of 45 from cancer. That was tough, to say the least. But when cancer affects a child, it is absolutely heart-wrenching.”

On grand opening day, customers can also expect to receive several fun giveaways. Beginning at 9 a.m., the first 100 customers will receive a free Scooter’s t-shirt with purchase. Later in the afternoon, starting at 12 p.m., the first 100 customers will receive a free mug with purchase, and at 3 p.m., the first 100 customers will receive a free Scooter’s gift card with purchase. Scooter’s Coffee will also have a surprise player from Sporting KC visit the store from 3 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. handing out autographed player cards and photos (whiles supplies last).

Scooter’s Coffee is quickly approaching 200 locations in 15 states, and has over 150 franchisee commitments to build new stores. The company is in the midst of a robust grand opening pipeline. It recently opened additional locations in San Antonio, Texas and Sacramento, California. Other expanding markets include Nevada, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas and Missouri.

Scooter’s Coffee, based in Omaha, Nebraska, specializes in hand-tamped espresso drinks, baked-from-scratch pastries and features their signature drink, the Caramelicious®. Scooter’s Coffee roasts its own shade-grown coffee, sourced through the Arbor Day Foundation. Scooter’s Coffee also serves a new line of hot and iced organic teas, single-origin coffee and the original Cold Brew & Cream. This year, some of Scooter’s Coffee’s drink innovations include Shaken Refreshers and Tropical Red Bull Infusions.

About The Victory Project

Sporting Club, the parent organization of Sporting Kansas City, launched The Victory Project in 2013 to tangibly impact the lives of children battling cancer. Since then, the foundation has raised over $1 million and supported families by covering basic household expenses, car payments and more when the financial strain of a cancer diagnosis sets in. The foundation’s newest and most impactful program, Sporting Wishes, was launched this year in response to the reality that over 20 children annually are diagnosed with a secondary cancer or relapse in our community. Sporting Wishes gives these children an opportunity to take control of their happiness and make their dreams come true - whether it is swimming with dolphins, visiting a volcano or meeting their favorite Disney princess.
