vomFASS Lincoln Square (Chicago) Opens; European-Style Specialty Retailer Expands Its Illinois Presence

The Windy City's first vomFASS has opened in the heart of Chicago's Lincoln Square neighborhood, already home to several European-style food destinations.

CHICAGO (PRWEB) December 13, 2017 - The city of Chicago’s first vomFASS - a European-style store selling imported oils, aged vinegars, wines, spirits and liqueurs straight from the cask - has opened at 4755 N. Lincoln Ave.

Located in the heart of the popular Northside neighborhood - already to home to several European-style food destinations - vomFASS Lincoln Square sells a variety of other products from around the world, including spices, spreads, syrups, pastas, olives and gift-boxed samplers for holiday- and year-round giving.

“Unlike when you shop online, virtually everything here is available to taste before you buy,” said owner Michael Aldrich, explaining that vomFASS translates from German as “from the cask.”

“Many Chicago-area residents are already familiar with our products from their travels throughout the U.S. and Europe,” he added.

The new store is the second Illinois vomFASS; a downtown Naperville location opened in November 2016. As the exclusive Chicago-area franchise holder, Aldrich, a former 30-year human resources executive, owns both stores.

“We feel right at home in this vibrant neighborhood, which coincidentally was settled by German immigrants in the 1840s. It’s close to public transportation, has a loyal customer base that shops local, and several food stores and businesses close by that complement what vomFASS offers,” he said.

He explained that many vomFASS products are organic, the spirits and liqueurs use traditional distillation methods, and the balsam and balsamic vinegars are made from the carefully processed juice of ripened aromatic fruit and are free of preservatives and artificial colorants.

Some of the store’s more unusual offerings include pumpkin seed oil and cranberry vinegar, as well as Cognacs, Armagnacs, brandies, and American, Irish and Scotch whiskeys.

Those looking to live greener will appreciate that consumers can return empty vomFASS oil and vinegar containers to the store to refill with their product of choice.

As he’s done at vomFASS Naperville, Aldrich plans to offer classes at the Lincoln Square location on topics such as cocktail-making and pickling, and the store can host private events for groups of up to 30 (age 21+).

“We have new offerings for people who already know and love our products. And we look forward to introducing our brand to those who are visiting a vomFASS store for the first time,” he said.

VomFASS Lincoln Square is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. There’s metered street parking in front of store, and parking lots close by.
