Wayback Burgers Featured in Wall Street Journal’s Special May “Focus on Franchising” Feature

EVP Bill Chemero Quoted for Leveraging Franchise Experience into Corporate Leadership

May 15, 2018 // Franchising.com // Cheshire, CT - Wayback Burgers, America’s Favorite Hometown Burger Joint and one of the nation’s fastest growing burger franchises, was recently featured by The Wall Street Journal’s special May “Focus on Franchising” Feature.

The compelling article, entitled “The Lure of Emerging Brands,” discussed why specific fresh and exciting franchises, such as Wayback Burgers, are emerging and how they are contributing to local economies across the country. Wayback Burgers’ Executive Vice President, Bill Chemero, was interviewed alongside other C-level executives who discussed the importance of having executives who can leverage their previous franchise experience into success for the company nationwide.

In his conversation with Wall Street Journal franchising reporter, Julie Bennett, Chemero analyzed Wayback Burgers’ progress from when he and President and CEO John Eucalitto purchased the franchise to where it is today.

“We knew that a franchise company must be built on solid systems and strong relationships with its franchisees,” said Chemero, a veteran of the franchising space. “The original owner sold two franchises in two years. We sold 17 units in our first year and now have 152 restaurants open with more under development.”

In the article, Bennett explored the appeal of emerging brands for potential suitors weighing their options and considering established brands, too. An emerging brand presents an opportunity for greater growth compared to an established franchise that may lack territory availability. Bennett discovered Wayback Burgers is prospering in part because of the leadership’s strong franchising experience.

“There are several factors contributing to Wayback Burgers’ rapid growth,” says Chemero. “John and I have more than 60 combined years of experience in franchising. We understand the importance of our franchisees and how to make our company and brand appealing to potential franchise partners interested in joining the Wayback family.

“Not only that, but we understand how to capitalize on cutting edge food trends that appeal to our guests; helping our franchise partners generate more in-store traffic. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished, and we’re excited about what the future has in store for everyone at Wayback!”
