UNITS Moving and Portable Storage Celebrates Grand Opening in Nashville, Supports Veterans

“Fill A UNIT” Winter Clothing Drive for Operation Stand Down Tennessee

September 17, 2018 // Franchising.com // Nashville, Tenn. - A leader in the fast-growing mobile storage industry, UNITS® Moving and Portable Storage, a national franchise brand, is bringing its hyper-local service, high-quality storage containers and competitive pricing to the metro area with the Grand Opening of its first Nashville area location.

The Nashville Chamber of Commerce helps kick off the celebration, hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. on September 20, at 5207 Linbar Drive, #702, off I-24 in Antioch.

A complimentary cocktail hour for all that attend will follow with tours of UNITS’ 20,000 square-foot facility and a demonstration of their Robo-Unit, a proprietary delivery system which can place containers in the tightest of spaces. More than 80 weather-resistant 16-foot containers, featuring barn-style doors and all-steel construction, can be stored on-site or delivered to any location for easy, ground-level loading to store or move items with minimal shifting.

With almost 100 people (and their stuff!) moving into the Nashville area every day, a hot real estate market, and a booming “events” business, local UNITS owners Rick and Jill Thomson saw an opportunity to serve the Music City’s population with a new level of local and portable storage service.

“I like that someone will call the 615 area code - not a 1-800 number - and get a LOCAL person who knows the area, knows the neighborhoods, and is committed to making their lives easier. That is the opposite of what our competitors are doing,” said Thomson.

His commitment to the Nashville community is matched only by his commitment to veterans. His first employee was a U.S. Air Force veteran who brings respect and discipline to his work with UNITS customers. During his Grand Opening, Thomson is proud to be hosting a “Fill A UNIT” Winter Clothing Drive for Operation Stand Down Tennessee - an organization dedicated to helping veterans transition to civilian life.

“My wife Jill and I are passionate about helping veterans and their families because we feel that they have sacrificed so much for our country with so little returned in the form of income, support, and respect. So many return from active duty without the proper support to reestablish a civilian life. We felt that Operation Stand Down was a perfect fit for us as they not only help with many social services but also help veterans feel respected and valued. We are humbled to be able to donate a UNITS container to help collect winter clothes for our veterans,” said Thomson.

The container will be at UNITS at 5207 Linbar Drive, #702, on Thursday, September 20, and will then move to the Music City Center at 201 5th Avenue South, September 21 - 23, where the Grand Opening festivities continue at the Nashville Home Show.

All are invited to come out and learn more about the area’s newest, and most convenient, mobile storage solution and help clothe Nashville area veterans this winter.
