Black Bear Diner Opens in Montana, Marking 12th State; Also Opens New California Restaurant

New franchise unit in Great Falls, Mont. and corporate unit in Moreno Valley, Calif. bring Black Bear Diner’s total restaurant count to 120

REDDING, Calif. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - December 19, 2018 - Black Bear Diner, the fast-growing, family dining concept that offers a one-of-a-kind experience and home-style comfort food classics in a friendly, bear-themed atmosphere, announced it has entered into its 12th state with its first unit opening in Montana, located in Great Falls. Black Bear Diner has also opened a new restaurant in Southern California in the Moreno Valley area on Wednesday, Dec. 19.

The openings mark the latest milestones on the brand’s growth trajectory and bring Black Bear Diner’s total unit count to 120. Black Bear Diner will have opened 15 new units by the end of this year as the company continues to successfully execute on its strategic plan to expand eastward. The brand has been frequently recognized for its performance, including being named one of the country’s “Top 10 Fastest-Growing” chains by Nation’s Restaurant News and one of the “Smartest-Growing Brands” by Franchise Times.

Details on the two new units are as follows:

  • Great Falls, Mt.
    Black Bear Diner’s first Montana unit is franchised-owned and located at 1400 Market Place Drive in Great Falls. The 7,386 square-foot diner seats 263 guests and opened on Monday. Dec. 17.
  • Moreno Valley, Calif.
    Located at 24949 Sunnymead Boulevard, this 5,514 square-foot restaurant seats up to 125 guests and will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily, starting Dec. 19. The unit is corporate owned and marks the brand’s 58th restaurant in California.

Both restaurants will hire as many as 80 employees each, creating job opportunities for local residents.
