Cookie Cutters Haircuts for Kids Jumps Nearly 300 Spots in Entrepreneur’s Annual Franchise 500® Ranking

January 11, 2019 // Franchising.com // SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Cookie Cutters Haircuts for Kids, the fastest-growing children’s haircutting franchise in the country, has secured the No. 147 spot in Entrepreneur magazine’s 40th annual Franchise 500®. Up 297 spots from last year, Cookie Cutters was the only children’s centric salon to be recognized in the ranking and further solidifies the burgeoning brand’s domination in the children’s haircut space.

Known as the world’s first, best and most comprehensive franchise ranking, the Franchise 500® ranking recognized Cookie Cutters for its exceptional performance in areas including costs and fees, size and growth, support, brand strength, and financial strength and stability. Entrepreneur received more than 1,000 applications this year, making it one of the magazine’s most competitive rankings ever.

“Over its 40 years in existence, the Franchise 500® has become both a dominant competitive measure for franchisors and a primary research tool for potential franchisees,” said Cookie Cutters CEO Neal Courtney, who acquired the brand in 2014. “Our position on the ranking is a testament to our strength as a franchise opportunity and the recognition, along with our brand loyalty, will no doubt continue to propel our business further and further.”

Over the past 25 years, Cookie Cutters has offered an interactive haircut experience that both children and parents won’t soon forget. Upon entering the salon, children are welcomed by an in-store playground where they can climb and slide. Come time for the haircut, each station on the cutting floor is outfitted with unique fantasy chairs - from race cars and motorcycles to firetrucks and airplanes - as well as televisions for the kids to watch their favorite shows or play video games. With a balloon, sucker and a smile at the end of each haircut, the Cookie Cutters experience is designed to keep children coming back again and again.

Today, Cookie Cutters has 94 salons open and operating throughout 22 states and Canada, more than two-thirds (65) of which have opened since the beginning of 2017 alone.

According to Courtney, 2019 is set to be one of the franchise’s most successful years yet. With 20 new salons already under construction, all of which are expected to open within the next four months, at least 40 total new locations are expected to open by the end of the year.

“The past two years have been record-breaking years for Cookie Cutters and we are incredibly proud of all we have accomplished,” said Courtney. “We look forward to continuing to support our existing franchisees and welcoming new partners to Cookie Cutters as we bring our salons to more markets and families in 2019.”
