CARSTAR Kicks Off 30th Anniversary With Strong First Quarter Performance

Strategic, Targeted Expansion; Exceptional KPI Metrics; Insurance Growth Contribute To CARSTAR’S Success

April 26, 2019 // Franchising.com // CHARLOTTE - CARSTAR, North America’s premier network of independently owned collision repair facilities, was one of the first multiple-location collision repair companies, founded in Kansas City in 1989. This year, as it celebrates its 30th anniversary, it leads the industry in innovation, performance and customer satisfaction. Over three decades, it has repaired more than six million vehicles, employs more than 8,000 people across the U.S. and Canada and opened its 600th location in 2018.

“We are focused on growing strategically in target markets with the right owners and providing these franchise partners with the support needed to drive their profitability,” said Michael Macaluso, president of CARSTAR. “This approach is delivering the highest levels of performance and success in CARSTAR history, and we anticipate continued strong results throughout 2019.”

Growth through Strategic Expansion

In the first quarter of 2019, CARSTAR had more than 25 collision repair locations complete immersion (will people know what this term means?) and branding across its North American network. CARSTAR saw dramatic growth in San Francisco, Southern California, North Carolina, Louisiana, Nevada and New York in the U.S. as well as British Columbia and Alberta in Canada. It expects to end the year with more than 650 locations, the majority of growth occurring in key U.S. markets.

“Within the CARSTAR network we are seeing strong franchise partners open additional locations to strategically serve their markets and their insurance partners,” added Macaluso. “They have experienced first hand the power of the CARSTAR model and the growth opportunities it provides. Additionally, large multi-shop operators are seeing the benefits of CARSTAR, too, like Chilton Auto Body in Northern California, who joined the CARSTAR family over a year ago, which not only provides a massive presence in the Bay area, but also demonstrates the value of CARSTAR to existing MSOs.”

CARSTAR continues be the best solution for an independent collision repair facility owner who wants to compete in their local market with insurance relationships, preferred vendor pricing and operational support while retaining their independence. Backed by the Driven Brands family of 2,500 automotive repair retailers and their powerful resources, CARSTAR offers the scale and scope to provide the best advantages to its franchise partners.

Strong Operations Drive Success

The proprietary CARSTAR EDGE operations platform and EDGE Performance Groups, along with the revamped CARSTAR University are preparing CARSTAR franchise partners with the resources needed to earn crucial OEM and third-party certifications as well as a roadmap to continue their successful, high-quality operations.

“Over the past year, we have focused on delivering the highest level of repairs on a repeatable basis for our customers and insurance partners,” noted Dean Fisher, COO for CARSTAR. “Our KPI metrics consistently top industry standards, which helps drive our success with our valued insurance partners. Our leading NPS scores, which are routinely above 85 percent, show that we are delivering excellent service for each and every customer. Combined, these metrics translate into several straight quarters of same store sales growth, year after year. We are proud of the hard work and commitment from our franchise partners in achieving these levels of performance, as we all know that performance drives growth.”

CARSTAR continues to expand its portfolio of performance-based agreements with national and regional insurance carriers, as well as significant DRP programs. When new franchise partners join the CARSTAR network, they have an opportunity to join these programs and quickly drive new sales growth.

CARSTAR Celebrates 30th Anniversary throughout the Year

Marking this momentous anniversary, CARSTAR has plans to honor this occasion with new initiatives throughout the year that gives back to the communities it serves.
