July 01, 2019 // Franchising.com // SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Eggs Up Grill, a fan favorite destination for freshly prepared, great-tasting breakfast, brunch and lunch options, is opening its first company-owned restaurant in Spartanburg on July 8. The restaurant features a new prototype design, new menu and the same warm, friendly service that has become a staple at the fast-growing brand’s 34 additional locations.

The 4,500-square-foot space is located in the Converse Corners shopping center at 551 East Main St., and will operate daily from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., with seating for more than 100 guests. The Spartanburg Eggs Up Grill will also include a training center and product innovation kitchen. Approximately 30 team members will work at the restaurant.

CEO Ricky Richardson said, “To be a best-in-class franchisor, we knew we needed a company-owned and -operated restaurant to allow us to be hands-on in every aspect of our business…from menu development to recruiting and training a top-quality team who successfully executing day-to-day operations, just like our franchise partners do. Having this restaurant, training center and test kitchen in our backyard allows us to not only serve the Spartanburg community, but also to immerse our new franchise partners in the brand culture and training. As we fulfill our aggressive expansion plan, this flagship restaurant will play an integral role in continuing to evolve the highly successful Eggs Up Grill brand.”

In addition to the breakfast, brunch and lunch options that Eggs Up Grill’s guests have come to know and love, diners at this location will also have the opportunity to try unique options not available at all Eggs Up Grill restaurants including Cinnamon Sticky Buns, Grits Souffle, Burnt Ends Benedict, Baked Peaches and Cream Pancakes, Shrimp and Grits Omelet and the Bleu Brisket Burger. The new offerings are part of the brand’s strategy to continue to provide unique, great-tasting, all-American menu items. Eggs Up Grill partnered with Spartanburg-based chef David Moore of Cribbs kitchen, The Kennedy, Cribbs Catering, and Main Street pub, for the menu innovation.

The Spartanburg location will be the first Eggs Up Grill to feature a new interior design and décor package. Plan B, a hospitality design and architecture firm in Dallas, combined refreshing comfort with simplicity and charm that will be signature to Eggs Up Grill.

From the moment guests enter, they will be greeted with a light, bright and cheery atmosphere. The space is designed to provide a comfortable escape that is welcoming and familiar. Whether at the counter feeling the energy from the kitchen, at a community table shared with neighbors and friends or in a cozy nook, guests can choose seating options to suit the perfect occasion or mood. The walls will feature artwork specifically designed for Eggs Up Grill that pays homage to its namesake, the Egg.

The space will offer a meeting room that can be used by community groups, as well as classroom space for trainees. There will also be a coffee counter, serving both hot and cold specialty drinks and the option to purchase grab-and-go food items. Eggs Up Grill will cater events big or small, with a menu featuring breakfast favorites like farm-fresh eggs, grits, savory home fries, biscuits and gravy and buttery grilled muffins. Salads, sandwiches and wraps are available for catered lunch. Delivery will be available.

Eggs Up Grill is carrying out an aggressive plan for expansion across the Southeast, with a goal of having 100 locations open in 2022. With momentum, including strong restaurant sales and 14 new locations in 2019, the team has targeted more than 100 secondary and tertiary markets for expansion across the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida. The company’s unique business model attracts top franchise prospects who would not typically be drawn to the restaurant industry. Steeped in a culture of “neighbors serving neighbors,” Eggs Up Grill’s 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. operating hours offer a work/life balance uncommon for the restaurant industry. The relatively simple-to-execute menu and operations structure make the franchise one that is equally attractive for those with or without restaurant experience.

“We are excited to open and to begin serving and supporting our Spartanburg community through this company restaurant,” said Richardson. “Eggs Up Grill is not just a great dining option for breakfast, brunch and lunch, but also a hub for local activity. We look forward to partnering with the community and serving our neighbors.”

About Eggs Up Grill

Eggs Up Grill is home to the whole neighborhood, serving smiles from sunup to lunch. The aromas of freshly brewed coffee, savory bacon and hand-cracked, farm-fresh eggs on the griddle and warm, attentive team members will make you feel right at home. We are “neighbors serving neighbors” daily from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Originally founded in Pawleys Island, S.C. in 1997 by restaurateur Chris Skodras, Eggs Up Grill has grown to more than 35 locations across the Southeast and is headquartered in Spartanburg, S.C.  With strong AUVs and consistent comp sales momentum, it’s no wonder existing franchisees are reinvesting in the brand, accounting for half of its projected 40% growth in 2019.

In 2018, private equity firm WJ Partners acquired Eggs Up Grill, building the team and priming the brand to rapidly grow in more communities across the US with plans underway to reach the 100-location mark by 2022. For more information, visit https://www.eggsupgrill.com/franchise.
