Restaurant Brands International Joins Sun Holdings In Celebrating Milestone 1,000th Store Opening

Marks 150th Popeyes In Sun Holdings Portfolio

July 15, 2019 // Franchising.com // DALLAS, TX - Sun Holdings, Inc., the country’s third largest franchisee, recently celebrated a major milestone with its 1,000th store opening. The company opened its newest Popeyes® restaurant in Dallas on July 10, 2019 and highlighted the occasion with a grand opening that included entertainment, giveaways, and a special appearance from Jose Cil, CEO of Restaurant Brands International (RBI). RBI is the parent company to Popeyes®, Burger King® and Tim Hortons®, with more than 25,000 restaurants in over 100 countries and U.S. territories. Cil participated in a ceremonial ribbon cutting to officially kick off the celebration.

Also in attendance for the celebration was Guillermo Perales, CEO of Sun Holdings, along with his wife Adriana and the family, Felipe Athayde, President, Americas, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Leandro Gasparin, head of U.S. Franchise Operations, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, and Christopher Finazzo, President, North America at Burger King Corporation.

“Opening our 1,000th location sparked an incredible sense of excitement and honor. We have been fortunate to align with highly-recognized brands that are committed to offering the best-in-class service and products,” said Perales. “Our growth and successes are reflections of our amazing teams across the country. The Dallas Popeyes marked the 150th chicken restaurant location for Sun Holdings whose headquarters is also located in Dallas. Thus, the historic day was fittingly celebrated by over a 100 employees, field personnel, and business partners at the company’s headquarters where fun was the theme for the day. The grand opening festivities went from the Davis Street Popeyes to Sun Holdings’ offices, where all in attendance toasted the 1,000th store opening, a testament to their dedication and hard work, and excitingly, a milestone in their own backyard.

During its 22-year history, Sun Holdings has been honored with multiple awards and recognitions that include four Golden Plate and four Silver Plate awards for Popeyes, the MUFSO Golden Chain Award, and National Restaurant News' Top 10 Power List in NRN.
