JINYA Holdings Names Robert Philips Vice President of Marketing

The experienced hospitality executive will lead marketing and brand innovation

August 01, 2019 // Franchising.com // BURBANK, Calif. - JINYA Holdings, a franchise system compiled of four separate restaurant concepts (led by the iconic JINYA Ramen Bar), is pleased to announce Robert Philips as its new Vice President of Marketing. Philips will be overseeing JINYA’s multi-brand strategy with a goal to grow the suite of brands in the U.S., Canada and beyond; and to help both franchise owners and corporate-owned stores meet their business objectives.

“Robert comes to JINYA with an impressive background in multi-unit hospitality marketing and management, in both North America and Asia. We believe he will excel and take JINYA’s success to new heights,” said Tomo Takahashi, founder of JINYA Holdings.

Philips joins JINYA having previously served in leadership roles for Hilton, Banyan Tree and most recently, Oakwood. He has directed marketing for multiple hotel and serviced apartment brands as well as both fine dining and fast casual restaurants.

While on assignment in Japan many years ago, Philips became a believer in the authentic ramen experience. “It was love at first bite,” says Philips. “The steam rising from the kitchen, the deeply-flavored broths and the mounds of noodles. It is exciting to see JINYA bring this experience to North America.”

Philips was brought on to help JINYA’s concepts - JINYA Ramen Bar, bushi by JINYA, JINYA Ramen Express, and Robata JINYA - meet their mission of delighting and astonishing every guest with authentic cuisine. Philips and the JINYA team will continuously work to become a superior franchisor, building out marketing systems and expand the unique DNA of the brand, which is already the No. 1 multi-unit ramen brand on Instagram (@jinyaramenbar) in North America.

“JINYA is a remarkable entrepreneurial success story, delivering an authentic dining concept and unique experiences,” adds Philips.

Behind The Bowl

Raised in Japan by a family of restaurateurs, JINYA Ramen Bar Founder Tomonori Takahashi opened the first JINYA in Tokyo in 2000. After launching six successful restaurants in Japan, he brought his ramen expertise to the United States, opening JINYA Ramen Bar’s first U.S. location in 2010 in Studio City, California. The family of brands since expanded to a total of 35+ locations across the U.S. and Canada.
