Office Pride Area Developer Troy Hopkins Receives Distinguished Service Award From BSCAI

November 22, 2019 // Franchising.com // PALM HARBOR, Fla. - Office Pride Commercial Cleaning Services Area Developer Troy Hopkins, CBSE, has been awarded the Walter L. Cook Award for Distinguished Service by the Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI).

Presented at the BSCAI convention in Las Vegas, the Walter L. Cook Award is given to the BSCAI member who has made outstanding contributions in furthering the programs and image of the association and the building service contracting industry.

“Receiving the Walter L. Cook Award is not only a huge honor, but also it represents what my peers in the BSCAI family and I strive to accomplish on a daily basis: share and teach what this great industry has to offer,” Hopkins said.

Hopkins, who lives in Huntsville, Ala., is an accomplished business owner dedicated to helping other entrepreneurs succeed. As an area developer for Office Pride in Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina, Colorado and Kansas, he coaches 27 franchisees as they launch and grow their own businesses. They benefit greatly from his advice and extensive experience in developing creative solutions to help them achieve their goals and successfully run their businesses.

Hopkins is recognized as one of the top professionals in the cleaning services industry and has been a member of BSCAI for more than 12 years. He has served on BSCAI’s Engagement Committee for three years and – concurrently – one year on the 2019 Contracting Success Conference Committee. As someone who sees his calling as coach and mentor, he has led numerous peer-to-peer sessions during the annual BSCAI conventions and was a featured speaker on “Improving Employee Retention” at the convention in 2018.

In 2017, he surveyed 6,000 commercial cleaning companies and used the data he gathered to write his third book, “Making Cents of a Dirty Business: How to Survive and Succeed in Commercial Cleaning” (June 2018). His first two books also were written for business owners in the service industry, “The Business Remodel: Transform Your Business to Love It (Or List It) Again” (January 2018) and “Thinking Outside the Box Journal” (April 2018). He wrote “The Business Remodel” to embolden business owners to renovate their businesses from the inside out and to help other entrepreneurs effectively reduce stress and secure their financial future as they run their businesses.

Drawing from his personal experience and the information presented in his books, Hopkins is a frequent speaker on topics such as “Transform Your Business – Steps to Taking Back Control and Loving Your Business” at chambers of commerce, business organizations and other cleaning companies. In 2018, he delivered keynotes at venues such as the Huntsville/Madison Chamber of Commerce Small Business Week Luncheon, Thryv Networking Luncheon, Crocket County Tri Chamber Awards Banquet and Mount Juliet (Tennessee) Luncheon. In August, he delivered the keynote address at Spartan Chemical’s annual conference, where attendees included 60 commercial cleaning companies.

Hopkins provides business coaching not only to building services industry executives and team members, but to those in other industries as well. “Even though commercial cleaning is my specialty, I enjoy coaching members from a wide variety of companies,” he said. “I want to motivate front-line employees and inspire executive management teams to achieve their goals.”

Hopkins currently is in the process of developing two new pieces of equipment that will use technology to reduce cleaning costs, time and labor.

Embracing technology and keeping up with the times is essential to elevate the service industry and especially, commercial cleaning, he said. “As we work within BSCAI to develop educational programs, committees and host events, we must keep our eye on the ultimate goal: to be the leader among service industries.”
