Take 5 Oil Change Looks Forward to Continuing Its Impressive Growth in 2020

January 30, 2020 // Franchising.com // CHARLOTTE - Take 5 Oil Change® , with its fast, friendly service and unique business model, experienced unprecedented growth in 2019 and looks to continue that pace as it begins the new year. Take 5 added more than 200 new locations in 2019 and achieved a milestone of the 500th store opening in October. Since being acquired by Driven Brands™ in 2016, Take 5 has added 435 locations through a combination of acquisitions, new franchise locations and company-owned stores.

Take 5 has disrupted the traditional oil change business model with its unique, speedy, customer-focused service and stay-in-the-car approach. This has fueled an amazing growth trajectory for the company and has gained the attention of multi-unit investors from a variety of industries, including real estate developers, quick service restaurants and the automotive industry looking to expand and diversify their portfolios.

“Like many investors, we began looking to diversify our portfolio,” said Candice Winterringer, who is the first female franchisee for Take 5. “Food service was what we knew, so if we were to step outside of that industry, we wanted a franchise that was similar in some basic components, and operationally simple. Take 5 ended up being the perfect match for us.”

“The Take 5 model focuses on delivering fast, friendly customer service, which is what our experience has been,” Winterringer added. “They have a proven playbook to follow, which helps deliver consistent quality and service, and the investment doesn’t require a large real estate footprint. Those are the factors that made Take 5 very attractive to us.”

Partners Wes Taubel, Sean O’Brien, and Ralph Wilson of TWO Capital Partners have built a successful real estate development business. Sean O’Brien shared the thoughts behind why they decided to expand into the service business and why they chose Take 5 Oil Change.

“We feel we have done a good job of building teams in the area of real estate investment and development,” said O’Brien. “We were intrigued by owning an operations business. We chose Take 5 because of the simplicity of the business model and the experience and support throughout the organization, from Take 5 through Driven Brands.

“Take 5 has truly changed the customer experience,” said O’Brien. “Speed, convenience, simplicity --that is what customers want, and the Take 5 model delivers exactly that.”

Ted Rippey, Senior Vice President of Development for Driven Brands, states, “The automotive service space is continuing to grow, and it represents a recession-resistant business. Take 5 offers investors a good way to diversify their portfolios, with a proven but very simple model with a strong training and support program.”

Take 5 is actively seeking single-unit and multi-unit franchise owners to expand the brand’s footprint.
