FlannelJax’s Madison Reopens for Business

Popular Axe Throwing Establishment Institutes Proper Safety Precautions

July 01, 2020 // Franchising.com // Madison, WI - FlannelJax’s, Madison’s premier axe throwing and lumberjack sports experience, reopened for business on June 11. The entertainment center, which is located at at 6704 Watts Road, had been closed since mid-March to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

FlannelJax’s is following all federal, state and local safety guidelines upon reopening. For guest safety, it will initially operate at 25 percent capacity and exercise proper social distancing measures throughout the facility. All axes and high-touch surface areas will be sanitized after each session.

Other precautions and measures include:

  • Staff members will have their temperatures checked each day upon arrival, and are required to wear masks and gloves at all times.
  • Protective screens have been be erected at the check-in desk to reduce direct contact between staff and customers.
  • Customers will be encouraged to use contactless payment and will be asked to complete a waiver online in advance of arrival.
  • Mask, gloves and dedicated axes will be provided to guests upon request.
  • Axe Throwing sessions can only be booked in advance, as they will not be accepting any walk-in customers at this time.

"We want people to know we are taking all the necessary safety precautions such as socially distancing our customers and staff, limiting contact and frequently sanitizing high-touch areas. Ensuring the safety of our customers has always been our first core value and our highest priority. That part of our business hasn’t changed.”

FlannelJax’s Madison opened with limited hours during this phase: Thursday – Saturday: 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and Sunday: 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Children aged 13 and older are encouraged to participate in Axe Throwing on Sundays, when accompanied by an adult.

FlannelJax’s opened in Madison in September 2019, becoming the second location in the country. The company first opened in St. Paul, MN in 2018, adding its third location in Grand Rapids, MI in November 2019.

FlannelJax’s features fun Axe Throwing competitions in a safe, structured environment under the guidance and instruction of a certified staff of Lumberjacks. Their additional Lumberjack Sports, including Thump the Stump (a race to hammer a nail into a stump using a hatchet) and crosscut sawing (a competition to saw through a log the fastest) have been temporarily removed to help enforce social distancing.

FlannelJax’s hosts social events, extreme team building exercises and axe-throwing leagues. Patrons can celebrate a birthday, bond with co-workers or compete in a weekly round of competition, similar to a dart or bowling league but with axes. All participants must be 18 years or older to throw. FlannelJax’s also has a full-service bar for patrons 21 and older.

Hours of Operation:
Monday – Wednesday: Closed
Thursday – Saturday: 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Sunday: 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m
(Children aged 13 and older allowed on Sundays with an adult)
