Killer Burger Celebrates 10 Years of Searing Success, Coinciding With the Reintroduction of the Famed Jose Mendoza Burger

PDX Homegrown Favorite Donates to Northwest Wildfire Response while Bringing Back the Cult-Favorite Burger

September 29, 2020 // Franchising.com // PORTLAND, Ore. - Killer Burger, the famed rock ‘n roll burger hangout born and built in PDX, is thanking its fans for 10 years in business with the return of a familiar taste.

After much anticipation, Killer Burger is reintroducing the famed Jose Mendoza burger. An original menu item, the Jose Mendoza has been MIA for the last few years due to a sudden loss of a strategic supplier. Topped with bacon, roasted green chiles, Monterey Jack, house sauce, grilled onion and pickle, the Jose Mendoza was an original burger back in 2010 and quickly rose to prominence to become a favorite amongst fans. The burger will be back on the menu starting Sept. 29.

Since its inception in September 2010, the burger joint has become a staple in the Portland community for its delicious burgers and backyard BBQ vibe. Founder and CEO TJ Southard started Killer Burger to create an environment for his close friends to hang out, enjoy a good burger and drink craft beers.

“As I reflect on the last decade, it truly has been a remarkable journey. What started as somewhat of a crazy idea has turned into a go-to spot for awesome burgers and a great atmosphere,” said Southard. “Despite everything this year, we are optimistic about the future and are looking forward to serving our fans, and creating more, for years to come.”

Killer Burger is stepping up to help those in need during these times. As wildfires have wreaked havoc, the burger joint has joined other Portland restaurants in donating funds to relief efforts. From Oct. 1 through Oct. 15, Killer Burger will also give fans the opportunity to donate either a dollar or five dollars at checkout to benefit the Northwest Wildfire Response Fund through the American Red Cross.

“At the end of the day, life is more than just flipping burgers,” said Southard. “The people of Oregon have been wonderful to us, and giving back to them is the least we can do. We’re proud to be making a meaningful contribution to the recovery efforts.”
