Firehouse Subs® Opens Fourth Location In Tri-Cities Featuring All-New Restaurant Design

Fast-Casual brand continues to look towards the future with Third redesigned restaurant prototype

November 24, 2020 // Franchising.com // RICHLAND, Wash. - Firehouse Subs® announces the grand opening of its fourth location in the Tri-Cities area at 2607 Kingsgate Way in Richland, Washington. The restaurant will open its doors to the public on Friday, November 13 under the ownership of Firehouse Subs Franchisee Group Sun Pacific Energy. Firehouse Subs serves premium meats and cheeses steamed and piled high on a toasted sub roll, served “Fully Involved®” with fresh produce and condiments. Following state and local regulations, the dining room will be open at limited capacity with outdoor seating available, weather permitting.

The Richland Firehouse Subs restaurant will feature the brand’s Restaurant of the Future design, which features enhancements made to provide a better Firehouse Subs experience for guests, in addition to a new back-of-the-house layout with a more efficient flow for Firehouse Subs crew members. The updated design of this new location has a repositioned ordering area and a designated space for Rapid Rescue To Go® orders made online at FirehouseSubs.com or through the Firehouse Subs app, in addition to demonstrating the brand’s commitment to community, first responders, heartfelt service and quality food that satisfies.

“Firehouse Subs has spent a lot of time and energy working on this Restaurant of the Future design, and we were really excited to learn about how we could use it in our newest restaurant in order to continue our dedication to heartfelt service and our guests in the Tri-Cities,” said Shawn Sanderson, district manager for Firehouse Subs and Sun Pacific Energy. “It’s an exciting, fresh look that goes really well with our attached Sun Pacific convenience stores, and I think our new neighbors in the Hanford area will appreciate it.”

The opening marks the third location to feature the new design, and the first to be owned by a franchisee. The Restaurant of the Future prototype first debuted in July 2019 in the brand’s hometown market of Jacksonville, Florida, with the second company-owned location opening in August 2020 in Palatka, Florida.

This location will offer third-party delivery and in-house catering services to accommodate occasions of all sizes, from office meetings to family gatherings. The new restaurant also features a pick-up window, where guests can pick up orders made online, in the app or over the phone, from the comfort of their vehicle.

The Richland Firehouse Subs restaurant is open from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week. Additionally, the restaurant will continue giving back to military, first responders and public safety organizations across the country though Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation®, which has granted more than $584,000 in Washington. A portion of every sale at any Firehouse Subs in the U.S. benefits the Foundation, allowing the Foundation to achieve its mission of providing lifesaving equipment, funding and education to first responders and public safety organizations across the country.

Founded by former firefighting brothers, the restaurant décor reflects the founding family’s decades of fire and police service with gear and photos donated by local fire departments. It boasts a custom, hand-painted mural by Chief Mural Artist Joe Puskas, featuring Hanford Nuclear Power Plant and the area’s white bluffs. Since the opening of the first Firehouse Subs in 1994, Puskas and his team have painted more than 1,180 murals from his studio at Firehouse Subs Headquarters in Jacksonville, Fla. Several local fire departments have also donated helmets and turnout gear to be on display in the restaurant.

Firehouse Subs offers small, medium and large hot specialty subs, including the No. 1 selling Hook & Ladder® sub, piled high with smoked turkey breast and Virginia honey ham smothered with Monterey Jack cheese and served Fully Involved with mayo, deli mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion and a kosher dill pickle on the side. Other top sellers include the Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket™ loaded with USDA choice beef brisket smoked for up to 16 hours in an authentic Texas smokehouse and topped with melted cheddar cheese and a special combination of sauces, including Sweet Baby Ray’s® Barbecue Sauce.

In 2005, the Firehouse Subs founders established the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation with the mission of providing funding, lifesaving equipment and educational opportunities to first responders and public safety organizations. The 501(c)(3) Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has granted more than $53 million to hometown heroes in 49 states, Puerto Rico and Canada. Each restaurant recycles five-gallon pickle buckets, available to guests for a $3 donation to the Foundation. Donation canisters on register counters explain the nonprofit’s mission and collect spare change, while the Round Up Program allows guests to “round up” their bill to the nearest dollar. All funds raised benefit the Foundation.
