MassageLuXe Celebrates Successful Franchisee Power Couple in Michigan

10-Year Veteran Owners Featured as National Spa Brand Spotlights its Franchise Family

June 02, 2021 // Franchising.com // MICHIGAN - MassageLuXe, a fast-growing luxury spa franchise committed to providing an unparalleled experience that supports and encourages health, well-being, and quality of life, honors multi-unit Michigan spa owners, Surinder and Neena Judge. The husband and wife have been loyal franchisees for ten years.

Originally opening their first prosperous location in Novi in August of 2011, Neena and Surinder were eager to open a second location in West Bloomfield in 2015. The couple has so much confidence in the MassageLuXe brand, they’ve been area developers (ADs) since day one. The same way a Human Resources professional recruits great candidates for companies, Neena and Surinder recruit qualified entrepreneurs to join the MassageLuXe franchise in Detroit.

“We knew we wanted to grow, which is why we purchased the AD agreement,” says Neena. “We’re proud to tell people we’re ADs for the brand. We have great franchisees who work hard at their businesses.”

After migrating from India, Surinder in 1983 and Neena in 1989, both had incredibly successful careers before joining the MassageLuXe family. Surinder was a chief engineer for almost 30 years and Neena took the business world by storm for more than 20 years. Together, they own a pre-school in addition to managing their MassageLuXe locations.

The proud parents have a son and daughter. “Our son is an attorney, and our daughter is finishing medical school,” says Neena. “Both of them could run spas, actually. They used to work in our spas back in their high school and undergraduate days. Owning our spas has been a great thing for our family.”

According to MassageLuXe CEO Mark Otter, the company has a goal to reach 250 locations in the next five years. “Seeing Neena and Surinder continue to develop locations in Michigan is exciting to watch,” says Otter. “They’ve both been great contributors to the success of the MassageLuXe brand. I’m looking forward to see what they do next.”

Neena and Surinder offer this guidance to anyone considering a MassageLuXe franchise opportunity: “Follow the FDD and the advice from corporate,” says Neena. “Also be willing to help anywhere in the spa. Some days I have to mop the floor, and that’s OK. It’s part of owning a successful business.”

Leadership is one of the most important skillsets for aspiring owners, according to Neena and Surinder. “Build great teams. Hire driven spa managers and coach them from the sidelines. It doesn’t have to be all on you, having a solid team is key,” Neena says.

“We love our MassageLuXe spas,” she adds. “Working in our spas keeps us from retiring completely. It helps us keep the creative juices flowing. We’ve never looked back since joining the franchise. We have absolutely no regrets.”

The Novi MassageLuXe Spa is located at 43296 11 Mile Road. The West Bloomfield location can be found at 6563 Orchard Lake Road.
