Jellystone Park Announces Franchise Deals for New Colorado and Tennessee Campgrounds

THOR Board Member J. Allen Kosowsky Investing in Colorado Park

July 06, 2021 // Franchising.com // CINCINNATI - Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts’ Western expansion is continuing with the signing of a franchise agreement for a new location in Parachute, Colorado. Earlier this year the family camping chain announced a new franchise camp-resort is under construction in Hurricane, Utah.

Famous for providing families with pools, water slides, splashgrounds, jumping pillows, wagon rides, foam parties and interactions with Yogi Bear costumed characters, Jellystone Park has more than 75 locations in the U.S. and Canada. Guests choose from a variety of camping and glamping accommodations.

The Parachute location is being developed by investment group High Mesa Partners, LLC that includes J. Allen Kosowsky, a member of the THOR board of directors. THOR companies combined represent the world's largest RV manufacturer.

“We are extremely pleased that Allen is among the investors in the new Colorado park,” said Rob Schutter, chief executive of Leisure Systems, Inc., which franchises Jellystone Park. “As a THOR board member, he has a deep understanding of the RV and camping industries, and he has an appreciation for their growth and long-term potential.”

Located 45 minutes northeast of Grand Junction, Parachute is popular with campers and outdoor enthusiasts because of the many nearby state and national parks. The campground is scheduled to open next year.

A new camp-resort an hour west of Knoxville, Tennessee, also is scheduled to open in 2022. The campground at Watts Barr Lake is being built by The Jenkins Organization, which currently owns four Jellystone Park locations.
