"CompuChild celebrates the National Week of the Young Child and recognizes Ms. Kerrie Scott as Instructor of the Year"
April 21, 2009 // Franchising.com // Indianapolis, IN - As part of the national Week of the Young Child celebration, CompuChild USA is honoring their instructors who make a difference in children's lives. This year they have chosen Ms. Kerrie Scott from Lake Forest Park, WA, as Instructor of the Year.
"As computer educators for young children, our instructors introduce students to the power and promise of technology" said Julie Standish, President of CompuChild USA. "Our mission is to prepare children for the academic challenges of tomorrow through computer technology education today. To honor the instructors who help us achieve our mission, we are recognizing Kerrie Scott as CompuChild's Instructor of the Year."
Scott teaches students in the northern suburbs of Seattle, Washington. She currently works in five area day care centers and preschools. "Kerrie has worked hard to build relationships with the children she teaches," said CompuChild Program Director Nikki Wiley. "She is calm and kind and makes learning fun. Kerrie has earned the respect of the children and staff at each of her centers."
Prior to CompuChild, Scott worked for Microsoft as a recruiter and technical support engineer. Besides her technical background, her experience as a mother of three prepared her to become an outstanding CompuChild instructor. "We would not be where we are as a business without her," said Wiley.
Upon learning she won the award, Scott immediately thought of the children. "I really love my job and the kids that I work with," said Scott. "I am very pleased that one of my rewards for instructor of the year is for CompuChild to make a donation to a charity. I couldn't think of a better reward."
In recognition of her achievement, CompuChild USA will make a donation to the My Stuff Bags Foundation, the charitable organization selected by Scott. The foundation helps abused, abandoned, and neglected children across America that are removed from dangerous home environments each year. The children often arrive at crisis centers and foster homes with few, if any, personal belongings. The My Stuff Bags Foundation seeks to give these children comfort and hope by providing them with a My Stuff Bag full of things they need to help them settle in their new environments, such as clothes, toys, toiletries, stuffed animals, and a security blanket.
"The Week of the Young Child is about celebrating children and bringing awareness to children's needs," said Standish. "We are excited to recognize Kerrie's commitment to children and glad she selected a worthy children's charity."
