Mr. Handyman Announces The Opening Of Its 250th franchise unit

July 14, 2007 - ANN ARBOR, MI – Todd Recknagel, brand president of Mr. Handyman, headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan, announced the opening of the 250th Mr. Handyman franchise unit.

"We're celebrating this milestone because it validates the market opportunity, our franchise model, and the passion that's shared by our entire Mr. Handyman team," said Recknagel.

According to the U. S. Census Bureau, six out of ten homeowners have home improvement to do's, and most Americans have an eye on seven or more projects at any given time. For millions of homeowners, tending to these nagging repairs while balancing work and family has created a thriving demand for professional, reliable and reasonable home-repair services.

The Mr. Handyman concept is squarely positioned to capitalize on this critical market need and is recognized as one of America's fastest-growing, service-oriented franchise systems. Entrepreneur magazine ranked Mr. Handyman the #1 handyman service in their January 2007, issue.

"We continue to see our proposition—giving qualified, service-oriented individuals the tools and the systems to operate their own franchise business—resonate across the country," said Recknagel. "Our 250th opening, up from 50 just four years ago, demonstrates that our success is due to well-trained and professionally supported franchisees who follow our proven concept to solve local problems and to build lasting relationships with their customers."

"The local market successes are fueling our brand's expansion nationwide. We're awarding Mr. Handyman franchises at a record pace. And, the beauty of our system is that you don't have to be handy around the house to be a successful Mr. Handyman franchisee, you just have to be an experienced hands-on manager at the office," said Recknagel. "We're attracting a well-rounded team of men and women who were senior-level managers, sales executives and organizationally skilled professionals. A great example is our 250th franchisee, DeLonie Call, who serves southeast Salt Lake County community in Utah."

"I'm a first-time franchisee and was looking for a concept that would allow me to use my human resources background and my executive-level management experience to grow my own, very scalable business. I looked at several franchisees and no one had the systems in place like Mr. Handyman," said Call, whose background includes 20 years with manufacturing, technology and customer-service companies.

DeLonie completed training and recently opened for business. And, she's already receiving a positive response from the community. "It's obvious we're satisfying a real need in the area," said Call. "Most people just don't have the time or inclination to handle those pesky repair chores around the house. We're good for those people and they're good for us. I'm very customer-service oriented and that's what I like about the Mr. Handyman people, they're all about premium service."

"We're enthusiastic about our first 250 franchises. Working with entrepreneurs like DeLonie Call, makes this fun," said Mr. Handyman's Recknagel.
