October 27, 2009 // Franchising.com // ATLANTA - Great American Cookies®, innovators of the original Cookie Cake and creators of the Great American Dad Contest, announced today the winners of the first-ever Great American Dad Contest. NexCen Franchise Management, Inc., a subsidiary of NexCen Brands, Inc., supported the contest.
The 2009 Grand Prize winner is Kelly Babcock, 14, of Garner, Iowa. Her winning entry used an acrostic style to outline the character istics that make her dad this year's Great American Dad. Babcock has received the essential ingredients for creating the "Ultimate Dad Den" for her dad including a Sony BRAVIA® 52" Flat-Panel LCD HDTV, Sony Blu-ray Disc Player and Sony BRAVIA® Home Theater System.
Amber Parsons from Parkersburg, W.Va., has been selected as the First Prize winner for her unique "recipe" for the Great American Dad which included equal parts of love, compassion and honesty. She has received a Sony BRAVIA® 52" Flat-Panel LCD HDTV. Five Runner Ups were also selected: Angela Peterson (Austin, Texas); Christine Schneider (Fort Smith, Ark.); Karly Kent (Carlsbad, Calif.); Mary Hofmann (Saginaw, Mich.); and Kelly Head (Frisco, Texas). These winners have each received a $50 gift certificate to Great American Cookies.
The contest, which launched May 13 and closed July 31, received a total of 1,899 entries and asked entrants to tell the world, in 200 words or less, what makes their dad a "Great American Dad." A "Winners" page has been created at www.greatamericancookies.com featuring the winning entries and all eligible contest entries are also posted on the site for visitors to view.
