A Menu Which Had Only a Small Amount of Trans Fats is Now Trans Fat Free!

Milford, CT (August 1, 2007) -- The SUBWAY® restaurant chain, long the leader in offering a healthier alternative to traditionally fatty fast foods, is pleased to announce that it has eliminated all artificial trans fats from its core menu.

"At SUBWAY restaurants, we are committed to providing healthier fast food choices for our customers," says Lanette Kovachi, Corporate Dietitian for the SUBWAY® restaurant chain "Removing the small amount of artificial trans fat present in a few of our products is another way to improve the nutritional quality of our menu choices."

The SUBWAY® submarine sandwich chain, which has been promoting the healthier aspects of its menu since the chain was founded in the mid-1960s, started its endeavor to rid its menu of the few ingredients that included artificial trans fats more than a year ago.

Over the years, the SUBWAY® chain has been recognized by consumers and critics alike as a recommended dining destination for those seeking food that is good for you and made the way you like it. In fact, the SUBWAY® brand was named the number one provider of healthier options in the recent Zagat survey of fast food restaurants.

About SUBWAY® Restaurants

The SUBWAY® restaurant chain is the world's largest submarine sandwich franchise, with more than 27,900 locations in 87 countries. The SUBWAY® chain is the second largest fast-food chain in the world, surpassing McDonald's® number of locations throughout the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Based in Milford, Connecticut, and with regional offices in Amsterdam, Beirut, Brisbane, Miami, and Singapore, the SUBWAY® restaurant chain was co-founded by Fred DeLuca and Dr. Peter Buck in 1965.

The SUBWAY® brand is ranked as the number one franchise opportunity in Entrepreneur magazine's 2007 "Annual Franchise 500 " listing - the 15th time in 20 years that the chain has achieved this honor.
