Owners Celebrate with Free Subs
July 29, 2010 // Franchising.com // Chesapeake, VA - Jersey Mike's Subs officially opened its doors in Chesapeake. Jersey Mike's owners, Martin Anderson and Clark Stallings, know the importance of community relations and celebrated their new ties with the area during their grand opening on July 28.
To commemorate the event, the new restaurant, located at 733 Eden Way North, Suite 412, hosted a 5-day fundraiser from Wed., July 28 through Sun., Aug. 1, with proceeds supporting Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters (CHKD). Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution. Coupons were distributed throughout the community.
"As small business owners, one of our top priorities is to support commendable, local organizations. For us, it is important to be able to reach out and help children," said Martin Anderson. "CHKD is affiliated with the Children's Miracle Network (CMN) which is close to my heart. My youngest daughter, Anna-Gray (10 yrs. old), was a Miracle Child for CMN seven years ago. She has gone through four heart surgeries at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, in Greenville, NC. Personally, I have experienced and appreciate the importance of our Children's Hospital and strongly encourage everyone, especially those with children, to come out and support CHKD. You never know when your child, a friend or relative's child is going to need the services they provide. "
Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters is the facility of choice for pediatric care in southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. Today the hospital is a comprehensive health care center treating all children who need the special care. Whether a child needs hospitalization, ongoing care for a chronic illness, outpatient surgery or primary care, CHKD Health System provides the staff, facilities and technologies that address the unique demands of childhood. "Clark and I are very thankful that CHKD has allowed us to partner with them for this fundraiser and we are hopeful that we will raise a substantial amount of money to go towards the needs of the hospital," said Anderson.
Reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike's mission. All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well.
