January 31, 2008 // Franchising.com // Hamilton, ON – – CARSTAR Automotive Canada announced today the appointment of Dave Lush to the newly-created position of Chief Operating Officer. The new position was created to ensure that CARSTAR Automotive Canada is poised for its next phase in company growth and long-term sustainability.
Lush will report directly to Sam Mercanti, President & CEO of CARSTAR Automotive Canada. He will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence and execution of business strategies and the strategic plan for CARSTAR.
"I am pleased to welcome Dave to this new position," said Sam Mercanti. "His many years of experience in the Canadian automotive industry will not only benefit CARSTAR, but also its many partners and stakeholders."
Lush joined CARSTAR in April 2006 as Vice-President of Operations and has led the strategic planning process and the reorganization of the marketing, insurance and operations departments in the last year. During his career, which has spanned more than 25 years, he has held key management positions in marketing, advertising and franchise operations in many other well-known companies in the automotive industry including Midas, Canadian Tire and Goodyear.
In his new role as COO, Lush will be responsible for developing and leading the 40 corporate management team members, and will continue to work closely with CARSTAR's key stakeholders including franchisees, insurers and suppliers.
Larry Jefferies, Executive Vice-President and co-founder of CARSTAR will remain an active part of the organization and will focus efforts on leading CARSTAR's sales and franchise building strategies.
