June 04, 2008 // Franchising.com // - CEDAR PARK, Texas - The Rainbow Station campus for pre-school and school-age children opened today, which is sooner than expected, announced Rainbow Station CEO Gail Johnson. The new Austin-area school will be following a roll-out plan that culminates in an official grand opening day of events on June 14.
Starting today, the doors of the twenty-thousand square foot facility will be open on a limited basis to a dozen children. Next week, starting June 9, the facility will begin to ramp up to its full capcity number of 335 children. This "soft opening" plan is designed to ensure the school will be at full operating speed by the grand opening on June 14, explained Rainbow Station CEO Gail Johnson.
The $3 million dollar campus offers nursery school, pre-school, private kindergarten, before and after school programs and an infirmary to provide parents with emergency backup care for mildly ill children. "The Get Well Place is for children with common childhood illnesses or who have chronic special needs. It is located in an architecturally separate building on the campus and is attended full-time by a registered pediatric nurse," explained Johnson. "This service has proved popular with parents and employers alike. It is great backup support for parents, and since it helps reduce employee absenteeism many companies offer it as a benefit or recommended resource to their staff." The Get Well Place is one of only approximately 300 emergency backup facilities in the United States.
The new facility is located at 11651 W. Parmer Lane and provides a specially constructed "village" for school-age children up to the age of 14. The Village offers children the choice of attending curriculum-driven activities at the Apothecary, Arcade, Art Gallery, Café Rainbow, Club 5, Gymnasium, Theater, Toy Shoppe and the Village Green. The Village is currently enrolling for its summer camps.
Rainbow Station is an award-winning pre-school and school-age recreation franchise that has already proven to be very popular in San Antonio. The Cedar Park location is the second Rainbow Station to open in the Lone Star state and the seventh location in the nation. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. Registration is available online at www.rainbowstationaustin.org or parents can enroll on-site where free tours are offered.
This newest Rainbow Station is owned and operated by brother and sister team Nadiya and Ahmed Lakhani. Nadiya is an Austin resident with seven years experience as a volunteer teacher and will be running the educational programs. Her brother, who is an IT specialist, will soon be relocating to Austin from Dallas to provide IT support for the business.
Parents interested in learning more about the program are invited to drop by the facility for a tour, register online, or attend the grand opening day community events. "We will have a safety seat expert available to the community to advise on best practices and child ID kits will be made for the parents," Nadiya Lakhani said about the official grand opening day June 14. "There will also be a health fair for both the parent and their children, a blood pressure clinic, and of course, tours of the new facility. Free family fun activities like face painting, balloon making, and creative crafts will also be offered to celebrate the official opening of the campus."
