When Funari's Italian Creamery founder, Marc Funari a Jacksonville native, was a little boy, his Italian grandfather made him a special treat, a luscious gelato that stayed in Marc's memory forever. Later in life, Marc and his wife Dawn often marked their summer nights with a scoop of ice cream, but they knew there was an ice cream out there that stood on a level all its own. Then one day Marc and Dawn found the secret recipes for the family's delicious gelato hidden away in a trunk brought over years ago from Italy. After making small batches for friends and family, the demand grew and grew until the first Funari's Italian Creamery was opened. Within one year the popularity demanded and the success enabled Marc and Dawn to open a second store in Jacksonville Beach. Now Marc and Dawn share their treasure with customers of all ages, offering the coveted taste of the family gelato to folks in Florida and beyond!
