About SafetyNet4Kids
SafetyNet4kids offers revolutionary solutions that aide in the recovery of a missing child and provides access to medical treatment in the absence of a parent. The solution consists of a credit card sized CD-ROM containing the child's digital pictures, digital fingerprints of all 10 fingers and other key personal information about the child.
Company History
SafetyNet4kids was founded by Katharine Francis in 2003. Katharine's son who was 8 at the time went missing at a fair. He was missing for 15 min but to Katharine it felt like an eternity. In the panic of looking for her son, she was asked many questions by the local police who were assisting. Katharine realized she was not prepared for this event with the information she needed to help in the search for her son.
Having worked in the high technology industry for almost 11 years Katharine, looked for an innovative product she could purchase to better protect her son. To her surprise, the child ID programs that were available to her were merely ID cards. So she looked to the local Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) to see what is needed in the event a child is missing. After several discussions with the GBI and the FBI agents, Katharine became increasingly troubled by the number of missing, abducted, and abused children in their country today. So she decided to develop a product that would better protect children.
The statistics are staggering. More than 800,000 children are reported missing annually in the U.S. Non-family members abduct more than 53,000 children each year. Statistics show that of those who are kidnapped, 40% are killed, and 4% are never recovered. If a child is not found within the first 3 hours of their disappearance, the chances of safely recovering them become less than 1%.
Determined to change these statistics, at SafetyNet4kids they are dedicated to child safety and welfare. They continue to work in collaboration with schools, law enforcement personnel, health care professionals, childcare facilities and families across the country, in hopes of creating a safer world for their children.
