The first Tiffinbites store was opened in 2003 in Wardour Street, London and was based on the idea of serving busy lunchtime customers with a traditional Indian food solution: the Tiffin. Tiffinbites has since opened a number of restaurants, concessions and take away units across the UK.
Tiffinbites offers real Indian food served the real Indian way. Launched in 2003, it currently operates four restaurants in London, and has a wholesale food business which caters for over 300 blue chip companies across the UK. The Tiffinbites concept is based around the 'tiffinbox' - a traditional metal storage container used in India to transport home-cooked food. Everyday thousands of tiffinboxes are used to carry Indian food to business people across Mumbai by workers called 'Tiffin-wallahs'. Tiffinbites serves all its dishes in tiffinboxes as a practical and traditional serving solution. Tiffinbites dishes are prepared each day using freshly ground spices, fresh vegetables, the leanest cuts of meat and without the use of ghee (clarified butter).
