Tysons Corner's First Potbelly Sandwich Shop Opened January 23

January 25, 2013 // Franchising.com // CHICAGO, Ill. - Potbelly Sandwich Shop opened its doors at 1577 Spring Hill Rd., Ste 100, Tysons Corner, Va., Jan. 23. This gave Tysons Corner-area residents the chance to experience the lively, neighborhood hangout that makes Potbelly Sandwich Shop “The Best Place for Lunch.”

Teddy Demessie is the general manager and has been with Potbelly for two years, most recently running the Potbelly operations at the Union Station location. He has been in the foodservice industry for more than 10 years, previously working as the casual dining manager for a retirement community.

“I am excited to open this new shop with a strong team dedicated to turning customers into Potbelly fans who love the products we serve,” said Demessie. “It’s the people, the product and the place that make Potbelly such a unique experience. We offer a great lively atmosphere to enjoy our amazing sandwiches at a reasonable price point.”

The new shop will partner with Kids R First during its pre-opening event, the Oven Warming Party, Jan. 22 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., to raise funds for the organization. In return for a $5 cash donation, those attending the Oven Warming Party will receive an Original Sandwich, bag of chips and fountain drink. The proceeds will be given to the organization to help further its cause.

“We are excited to partner with Kids R First and build a long lasting relationship,” said Demessie. “The partnership introduces the Kids R First organization to its neighborhood Potbelly Sandwich Shop and we look forward to working with the organization further, including future employment opportunities for students, fundraisers and many new Potbelly fans!”

Known for its good vibes in addition to great sandwiches, live music has been a part of the Potbelly experience since the first shop opened in 1977. Neighborhood musicians put a little rhythm into lunch by performing live at Potbelly Sandwich Shops around the country. The new shop is excited to begin its music program and has started taking auditions. Musicians interested in performing at the new Tysons Corner Potbelly should contact the shop manager.

Potbelly has built a passionate, loyal following of fans who spread the word about the fun, energetic atmosphere and great food. The unique Potbelly experience is defined by its combination of toasty warm sandwiches, hand-dipped shakes, tasty made-to-order salads, as well as friendly and lively people.

This is the first Potbelly Sandwich Shop to open in Tysons Corner and the new shop will staff 25+ employees and managers. The location is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The shop will offer catering one week after opening.
