Experienced Entrepreneur Diversifies Portfolio with Lightbridge Academy’s Unique Concept

February 28, 2017 // Franchising.com // By partnering with the leading innovator in child care, franchisee Jay Thakar has been able to expand his reach as a business owner while simultaneously giving back to his local community.

Taking care of others comes naturally to Jay Thakar. In fact, he’s made a career of it - Thakar has spent the majority of his professional life working for his father’s senior care company, Indian Nursing Home. But despite his passion for helping the elderly, Thakar knew that he wanted to be involved with something outside of his family’s business. His dream was to venture out on his own and ultimately go into business for himself.

Given his experience in the care and service industries, Thakar reached out to his business partner and started looking into franchising opportunities that would allow him to continue giving back to his local New Jersey community. That’s when they discovered Lightbridge Academy, a leading innovator in educational child care. Its unique franchise concept and business model stood out to Thakar right away - Lightbridge Academy is the only child care company that is guided by core values and committed to caring for everyone in a child’s life, ultimately setting the brand apart from the competition. That Circle of Care philosophy - which places equal and paramount importance on the needs of children in addition to their parents, staff and surrounding community - ensures that children receive top quality care and early childhood education programs.

“Having worked in the senior care industry for 10 years, I’m aware that quality care is hard to come by. Consumers aren’t looking for second rate options, especially when it comes to help outside the home to care for the people you love. You want to be sure that you’re working with the best. That’s why we decided to franchise with Lightbridge Academy. There isn’t another brand that creates the same culture of care for parents and children, and the Lightbridge Academy philosophy and core values set them apart from all competitors,” said Thakar. “The opportunity was also perfect for us as established business owners. Not only is Lightbridge Academy’s model proven to be successful, it’s more manageable than senior care. It was a natural next step in my efforts to diversify my portfolio.”

Thakar and his partner are currently in the process of opening up a Lightbridge Academy center in Sayreville, New Jersey. The new location will feature all of the proprietary programs that the brand is known for, including its Seedlings Curriculum, ParentView internet monitoring system and eCommunication app. Together, those programs give parents complete communication and access to their children throughout the day.

“We go above and beyond to meet parents’ needs and keep them connected in a meaningful way. It’s not enough to just provide a high quality educational program and child care services, parents need support as well. Lightbridge Academy strives to remove unnecessary stress from their lives. That’s why programs like our ParentView and eCommunication app are so important. Not only are teachers sending progress reports, photos, videos and other updates to parents through our app, parents also have the ability to check in on their children whenever they have a moment to spare online,” said Brenda Febbo, Lightbridge Academy’s chief marketing officer. “Every part of our system is specifically designed to enhance the lives of all those within our Circle of Care including children and their families.”

The child care franchise is resonating among consumers and prospective business owners alike. With 24 centers currently open for business and dozens more in development, it’s clear that demand for Lightbridge Academy’s top tier services is at an all-time high. And franchisees like Thakar are paving the way for even more growth in 2017.

In addition to their Sayreville location, Thakar and his business partner are also planning to open two centers in Pennsylvania. Thakar feels that Lightbridge Academy’s position as innovators in the growing child care industry and also the affordable initial investment make it feasible to grow along with the brand.

“Our passion for helping others is what brought us to this business, and everyone on Lightbridge Academy’s team shares that same dedication. That’s why we’re excited to continue growing. At the end of the day, we have the chance to introduce more families to higher quality child care while still succeeding as entrepreneurs. That’s a rare combination, and we plan to make the most out of it,” Thakar said.
