theCoderSchool to Open Second North Carolina Location

Silicon Valley-based children’s enterprise franchise comes to Raleigh.

August 02, 2017 // Franchising.com // Palo Alto, CA - theCoderSchool - recently identified as one of Entrepreneur magazine’s “top five franchises to watch” - has announced the opening of a new school on August 12 in Raleigh, NC. TheCoderSchool of Raleigh will aim to show a new generation of kids how galvanizing and stimulating technology can be, while coaching coding skills that are highly in demand and applicable across all industries.

The new school, located at 13200 Strickland Road Suite 116 in Raleigh, will be owned by Ravisha Weerasinghe and Mehul Shah, who also own theCoderSchool’s Cary, NC location. After teaching their children coding skills at home, Mehul and Ravisha wanted to help other parents provide this same opportunity to their children. The couple ultimately plans to open 5-6 additional theCoderSchool locations throughout the Triangle market.

“We are thrilled to expand theCoderSchool’s footprint in North Carolina,” said Weerasinghe. “There is clearly a massive need for coders and programmers in this country right now, but theCoderSchool’s goal is to show both parents and kids that learning to code does more than just open career doors - it’s also a great creative outlet that improves kids’ logic, ideation and creative thinking skills.”

theCoderSchool was built with the desire to provide children aged 7 to 18 years with a welcoming environment to develop computer programming skills. theCoderSchool uses a variety of platforms to teach various coding languages, such as HTML, CSS, Python, Javascript and more. Every Code Coaching lesson is customized with the help of trained Code Coaches® who use a 2-on-1 approach to teaching.

“Mehul and Ravisha have done a fantastic job already with the existing school in Cary of building life-long relationships between kids, coding and tech,” noted theCoderSchool founder, Hansel Lynn. “We’re confident they will achieve the same level of success in Raleigh and maintain our commitment to using a customized, project-based approach to illustrate just how fun learning to code can be for kids.”

theCoderSchool is also a proud founding member of the International Alliance of Youth Coding Educators. The IAYCE is an alliance of global partners whose goal is to further coding education for youth around the world.
