theCoderSchool Set to Open First School in New York

Silicon Valley-based children’s enterprise franchise comes to Long Island

October 03, 2017 // Franchising.com // Palo Alto, CA - theCoderSchool - recently identified as one of Entrepreneur magazine’s hottest brands - has announced that a new school is set to open on October 14 in Syosset, NY. The school will aim to show the next generation of kids how inspiring and exciting technology can be, while providing coding skills that are in high demand and applicable across all industries.

theCoderSchool Syosset, located at 45 Ira Road in Syosset, will be owned by Noreen Kazi, who plans to open as many as five schools over the next few years throughout the New York metro area. Kazi is an active Long Island mother with extensive experience as a community leader and organizer, and has spent over 20 years creating educational curriculums and running programs focused on developing the next generation of leaders.

“Long Island is constantly at the forefront of educational innovation, and I’m thrilled to build on that strength by bringing theCoderSchool’s unique concept to our community,” said Kazi. “Learning how to program computers is an incredibly valuable skillset which can be leveraged across many industries and career paths. Our customized program will not only teach students how to code, but also provide kids with highly sought-after leadership skills such as critical thinking, team building and presentation skills.”

theCoderSchool of Long Island has also implemented a Board of Advisors to not only advise on curriculum development, but also provide insight and information from a global perspective on how technology is impacting various career paths. The Board will be led by Senior Advisor Nisha Bhalla, a graduate of Harvard Business School who has extensive experience launching and scaling new products at both Fortune 500 companies and healthcare start-ups.

“I’m truly thrilled to be involved with theCoderSchool - a program that is really educational and so much fun,” added Bhalla. “I’ve always been fascinated by the collaborative nature of the programming community - our Board of Advisors will thrive on this collaboration as we constantly look for new, fun and fresh ways to engage with kids who want to learn about technology.”

Additionally, an ongoing “Speaker Series" will be offered to members of theCoderSchool of Long Island. These monthly networking events will bring in CEOs and COOs of various start-ups in the New York area to come and provide their perspectives on how technology is rapidly impacting all career paths. Employees from companies such as Facebook, Tesla and Amazon will also be teleconferenced in to provide students on the East Coast with an understanding of how technology is impacting various industries across the country.

Founded by Hansel Lynn and incubated with the help of his best friend, Wayne Teng, theCoderSchool was built with the desire to provide children aged 6 to 18 years with a welcoming environment to develop computer programming skills. theCoderSchool uses a variety of platforms to teach various coding languages, such as HTML, CSS, Python, Javascript and more. Every Code Coaching lesson is customized with the help of trained Code Coaches® who use a 2-on-1 approach to teaching.

“We are constantly in search of franchisees who care about setting kids up with a positive, life-long relationship with technology and coding,” noted Lynn. “Noreen and Nisha are incredibly passionate, and it’s clear that their priority is to bring a fun, engaging environment to Long Island that also helps improve kids’ logic, ideation and creative thinking skills.”

theCoderSchool is also a proud founding member of the International Alliance of Youth Coding Educators. The IAYCE is an alliance of global partners whose goal is to further coding education for youth around the world.
