Wendover Golden Corral Debuts Chain’s New Restaurant Design

Greensboro Buffet Restaurant Selected First to Incorporate New Prototype Opens December 21

December 19, 2017 // Franchising.com // The Wendover Golden Corral, located at 4404 Landview Dr. in Greensboro will reopen for business on Thursday, December 21 at 10:00 a.m. The restaurant had been temporarily closed since June 26, when construction began on the new building.

The Wendover location will be the first Golden Corral restaurant to feature the chain’s new building redesign, called Gateway. The prototype will incorporate a contemporary appearance for the interior and exterior of the building, with improved layouts for the dining room, service bars and kitchen areas. The new facility design will also enable greater customer service and dining room comfort, as well as increased energy efficiency.

Golden Corral officials will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. prior to the restaurant opening on December 21.  President and Chief Executive Officer Lance Trenary, his executive team, the franchise owner, and restaurant staff will take part in the ceremony, along with Greensboro community leaders.  Golden Corral Founder James Maynard will also be at the restaurant on opening day.

The Wendover location is owned by Dave Gronewoller, who operates Golden Corrals in North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida. He opened his first Golden Corral restaurant in Greensboro in August, 1993 drawing customers across the Triad from Greensboro to Winston-Salem, Burlington and High Point. With the Golden Corral’s reopening under the new design, Gronewoller has more than doubled the number of full-time and part-time staff to approximately 170 employees.

“We are so excited to reopen our doors to the Wendover Golden Corral. I believe our guests will love the look and feel of the new design,” said Gronewoller. “It is a great honor to open the first new Golden Corral restaurant prototype here in Greensboro, and we have worked on this for more than three years. The new layout will provide significantly more space and comfort for our guests. The building’s new operational efficiencies will improve our ability to offer an exceptional dining experience at a great value.”

“Golden Corral is very excited to bring the new restaurant prototype to our loyal guests in the Greensboro area,” said Lance Trenary. “Greensboro is a great market for family dining and we have had a strong presence in the area for many years. Dave Gronewoller has been very involved in the planning of the new design and we’ve received outstanding support from the Greensboro city officials throughout the process.”
