Cookie Cutters Haircuts for Kids Opens First Virginia Salon

Aims to make haircuts more memorable for both kids and parents in Chesapeake.

February 07, 2018 // Franchising.com // Salt Lake City, Utah - Children’s haircuts are more fun than ever now that Cookie Cutters Haircuts for Kids is open.

Located at 940 Cedar Road, the new salon is the first in Old Dominion and is owned by husband and wife duo Maria and Joshua Jackson. The salon services the Hampton Roads area - Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Suffolk, Newport News and Hampton - and the northeastern area of North Carolina.

“As parents ourselves, we are very familiar with the anxiety associated with children’s haircuts and are excited to own a business that makes the experience fun for kids and stress-free for parents,” said Maria. “We’re eager to introduce the Cookie Cutters brand to the people of Chesapeake and look forward to helping the community discover how much fun a children’s haircut can actually be.”

Born and raised in Venezuela, Maria moved to the United States to receive her Master’s degree. Her husband Joshua, originally from Kentucky, served six years in the Navy. Maria pursued a career in engineering before becoming a stay-at-home mom to the couple’s two little boys - four years and six years old. When she considered returning to work, Maria did not see herself in engineering and desired a career that would provide her the flexibility to balance work and family. The Jacksons discovered Cookie Cutters Haircuts for Kids and decided to open their own salon.

Cookie Cutters offers an interactive haircut experience that both children and parents won’t soon forget. Upon entering the salon, children are welcomed by an in-store playground where they can climb and slide. Come time for the haircut, each station on the cutting floor is outfitted with unique fantasy chairs - from race cars to motorcycles, firetrucks to airplanes - as well as televisions for the kids to watch shows. With a balloon, sucker and a smile at the end of each haircut, the Cookie Cutters experience is designed to keep children coming back again and again.

“Little ones can be terrified by the haircut experience - the loud buzz of clippers, the confinement in a chair, the orders from a stranger to sit still. Cookie Cutters has designed its approach to put children at ease,” Maria added. “Nothing in our salon will be scary or intrusive for a child. Our goal is to provide all children, including those with special needs or sensory issues, with an enjoyable experience, pleasant memories and the desire to keep coming back.”

Cookie Cutters Haircuts for Kids in Chesapeake is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
